Chapter 120

"Should I go back to the training room first? I need to tell them so they don't have to look for me until the Winter Tournament begins. Right, I also need to go and tell that person too... I have to go to that place to make something...Oh no, I forgot to tell him about the request! After this meeting, I will refuse their request until next year. How dare they add more problems to me!" Ludger grumbled as he left the meeting room and headed to the first training room.

"Ludy, it was rare to see you this angry. But I could understand your feelings. I am also angry when I hear about what they are saying." Elviira who chases Ludger when he leaves the meeting room tries to cheer him.

"You don't have to worry about it, Sister Elviira. I was angry because they said that they wanted to harm the other guild members and cause chaos in the city. I don't know what they are thinking. I think I will  report about that to the Duke too." Ludger said with an evil grin.

"You seem to have fun with it." Elviira smiled as she didn't see any problems from Ludger.

Elviira was worried that Ludger might feel fear, anger or even depression from what happened in the meeting before. Although he was really angry at them, but she still felt glad that Ludger was still able to smile like that. Well, even when Ludger seems to be planning something evil, Elviira still believes that he only does that because they are acting unreasonably like that.

"Yes, I think I will have a lot of fun with them and make them even regret trying to do something like this. Oh right, Sister Elviira, do you know the representative from the magic tower? I never saw their guild master and I remember that someone told me that the person in the meeting room was the vice guild master of the magic tower." Ludger asks about the thing that he feels interested in to ease his anger.

"Ah, that rude woman, you are right, she came as the Vice Master of the magic tower because the Tower Master hasn't shown himself to the public from a decade ago. No one really knows what he was doing and only the high ranks in the magic tower know about it but they won't tell anyone else." Elviira said with a displeased expression.

"It was rare for you to talk bad about someone. Do you hate her, Sister Elviira?" Ludger asked with a surprised expression as Elviira had a shocked expression on her face.

"I do not hate her but I also don't know why she hates me and always tries to annoy me every time she sees me... You know that Vera and I were adopted by the Old Man when he was still active as an adventurer. A few years later, he became the Guild Master of the adventurer guild and we also decided to become an adventurer because we wanted to save others like him. At that time, most of the Guild Masters of the five great guilds had changed into the current one except for the magic tower." Elviira has a nostalgic gaze as she tells her story.

"Eh, all of them change at the same time?!" Ludger was surprised because it was too weird for them to change the leading person in almost a similar time together.

"It was not like what you are thinking about. Do you know about the rivalry situation between the five great guilds?" Elviira suddenly asked when she saw Ludger's expression.

"Yes, I have heard that they are quite competitive and trying to gain more achievement than the other, right? Hmm, is there any relation with it?" Ludger asked with a confused expression.

"Of course, because it was the reason they changed the Guild Masters to not let them lose to other guilds. At that time, they thought that they needed to change the leader to let the guild able to grow and when they heard the other guild change their Guild Masters, they also did it in their guild. The first guild that did it was our guild. And after the other three guilds also changed their Guild Masters, they decided to make an event to show the new Guild Masters's power and charisma. And also a recruitment for new members of their guilds..." Elviira continues her story but then she stops.

"...Sister Elviira, what happened? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Ludger worried because Elviira suddenly frowned and stopped walking as if she thought about something horrible.

"It was weird...!!! Why...?" Suddenly Elviira said with a confused and shocked expression.

"Sister Elviira, are you alright?" Ludger shook her body as he tried to snap her out of her confusion as he realized something was wrong with her current condition.

"Huh?! Why are you making such an expression, Ludy? Don't worry, Big Sister only realized something was wrong with my memories but it might be because that person using some kind of magic that have almost a similar function to the magic that we discussed before. I just realized about it after we created it and tested it last time. Yes, I think it was the same." Elviira said as she nodded her head.

"Eh?! Do you mean that someone is able to use those spells...!!!... Could it be the person who using it..." Ludger suddenly realized something from her story.

"Un, the Tower Master of the magic tower seems to be able to use it and hide his appearance from a long time ago. I only realized it now when I tried to remember about the last time he showed himself in public. But if we thought about the probability that he was able to use similar spells, then that means he might be able to walk around us without us realizing anything about his presence. What do you think about it?" Elviira asks with a serious expression.

Ludger also realized that this fact sounded a bit suspicious. 'Such spells might be helpful in a few situations but they will be also dangerous if the person who using them tries to do something bad. And what if the Magic Tower use it to spy on other people and blackmail them? And what if he kills someone without showing himself? Sister Elviira might not think about using it in that way but I don't think it will be the same with the Tower Master case.'

"Are you alright? Your face looks pale." Elviira asked with a worried face.

"I just thinking about something horrible... Don't worry about it, it was just my imagination. Right, so what happened in that event?" Ludger said with a forced smile on his face and changed the topic.

"...The event was a success and the new recruits had to show their talents. At that time, I think it was the first time we met each other but even at that time she was acting like that and said that we would regret our choice to join the adventurer guild rather than the magic tower. At that time, Vera was angry and defeated her in a quick magic barrage... Maybe that's why she hates us." Elvira suddenly realized.

"That's possible. But didn't you say she had been acting like that even before the fright? So is it related to her background? Do you know why she joined the magic tower?" Ludger tries to ask because he is suddenly interested in it.

Ludger felt there was something wrong with the magic tower. So when he heard about Elviira's story and listened to a few parts that sounded suspicious, he tried to ask for more detail. But before Elviira was able to continue her story...

"Why are you so late? I have finished the class. Hmm, what are you talking about? Why are you making such expressions?" Alvera who standing in front of the first training ground looking with curious looks.

"We are talking about the event that happened when we just joined the adventurer guild. I told him about it because that rude woman from the tower was there in the meeting room and said some rude things and even tried to threaten us by wanting to cause a guild war." Elviira reported with an angry tone.

"What! How dare she say something like that! Did she want to be beaten like before again? She was acting haughty like that because she was adopted by the Tower Master." Alvera angrily said.

"Huh, didn't that mean she had similar situations with both of you?!" Ludger said with a surprised tone.

"Which part of our situation is the same?!" Alvera angrily asked.

"I mean the part where you are adopted by the person who becomes the leader of the give great guild. If it was like that, don't you think she acts like that because she feels some kind of rivalry with both of you? There also some possibility that she was feeling disappointed in your choice to join the adventurer guild even when you have a similar past." Ludger tells them about his deduction.

"Even though there is some possibility that what you are saying is true, but it just shows how childish she was. How could she force her views on us! Did she think we would agree with her just because we have a similar background? Even though both of us are a twins, we always have different opinions. So why can't we choose a different guild to join? Don't you agree with what I am saying?" Alvera said while looking at Ludger.

"I agree with you but don't you think there are always some people who we can't understand or act unreasonably just because of some difference?" Ludger said with a bitter expression as he remembered about the treatment that he got before he ran away from that hell-like place.
