Chapter 148

"Ugh...!" 

Ludger's feet trembled, his face became paler than before, and it was as if he lost all of his power to stand and suddenly fell on his knees and vomited. 

"Ludger!" Kismet shouted as he was worried about Ludger's condition. 

Ludger's face is extremely pale, he is breathing roughly, and his eyes seem to be unfocused. Every single person will be able to see there's something wrong with him right now. 

But the problem is they can't get the reason why he suddenly turned into his current condition like that. The only person who knows about the reason besides Ludger is the Tower Master. But it seems to be impossible to ask this lunatic psychopath about the explanation for his condition. 

Kismet is worried about Ludger's strange condition. He knew that Ludger was getting attacked by the Tower Master with some unknown methods. But after his attack, the Tower Master's attention returned to his direction. 

"Do you think you have a leeway for looking in another direction and worried about others in your current situation? You just acted haughty after hurting me once, and now you're running like a rat. Could it be that you hurt me because of some fluke? Why don't you do it again?" The Tower Master, who regains his composure, starts to taunt Kismet to do it again. 

Although he acted composed, the Tower Master still showed his killing intent in Kismet's direction as if he were some annoying pest.

"Don't look down at me just because you're some kind of monster that made a pact with the God of Chaos. I won't lose easily to a person who sells his real name like you just because you want more power. I won't feel afraid of you. The holy light that destroys all evil. Disintegration." Kismet sends another magic attack to the Tower Master's direction. 

Bang!

Another explosion happened. 

"Arghhh!!" 

And the Tower Master's painful scream could be heard. His barrier still perfectly surrounds himself without any crack or hole, but Kismet's attack is able to harm him.

"Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Damn! You lowly being...! How dare you hurt me again! I will kill you horribly!" The Tower Master loses his right leg and is scratched by flying debris from the explosion. 

His neat appearance has become ragged because of that attack. Anyone could feel that he was currently angry, especially at Duke Kadaklan, Kismet. But Kismet didn't care about his feelings because he was only thinking about Ludger's strange condition. 

Ludger is still kneeling like before, but for some reason, Kismet knows that his condition seems to be better than before because he can feel that Ludger is helping him to attack the Tower Master.

As Kismet predicted, Ludger had gotten better after the horrible experience he had just experienced.

When the Tower Master's hand grabbed something near Ludger's body, it was not because Ludger was unable to dodge or move away from him but because he was stunned by some illusion. The time the Tower Master reached out his hand, Ludger saw something horrible or the past that he wanted to forget.

Ludger saw the hand that killed him in his past life and it was extremely similar feel to that traumatic past. But as his hand got closer to Ludger's direction, another illusion popped up in his mind. 

The first thing that he saw was the people in this city starting to collapse and their bodies torn apart as if being mutilated by something inhumane; blood started to flow and drenched the road with their mutilated bodies and blood. 

Ludger felt terrified when he saw the scenery that he saw. Even his mind knew that this scenery was not real or some kind of illusion, but the horrifying and nauseating scenery, the screaming voices he could hear and the smells of blood made him feel that everything was real. 

Ludger's mind tries to deny it as a reality, but his sense keeps making him feel that it is real. His head started to hurt as he felt the difference in his mind and senses as if it was fighting against each other inside him. 

Ludger's instinct tells him that he must not accept it as reality, or it will really happen. It made him feel freezing on his back as he saw the brutal sudden death in front of him. 

'How could I get away from this condition.' Ludger panicky thought. 

But he couldn't do anything until the last person in front of him died horribly.

Then the scenery changes to the Adventurer Guild and shows him how the adventures he was close to being brutally killed by unknown enemies, and their bodies piled in front of him. 

Few of the corpse even seems to be glaring in his direction. It was something that Ludger wished that he wouldn't ever see, and he never wanted to think about if it would ever happen in reality. 

Ludger wanted to run or move his body from that place or at least close his eyes and ears so he couldn't see the horrible scene in front of him. His body felt as if petrified, and he could only see the horrifying scenery without being able to do anything. 

Ludger realized that it was not real or just some kind of realistic illusion that could trick his senses. But the more he tried to deny it, the scarier the scenery that appeared in front of him. As if he was trapped inside the worst nightmare, the longer he stayed in this condition, the worse the scenery that he saw in front of him. 

He was helpless and unable to do anything to help the important people in front of him. Ludger tried to save the people in front of him, but he couldn't move or use his magic. It makes him feel that he is weak and can't do anything. 

Ludger didn't know what he had to do. And he also feels troubled when the scenery turns into the scenery of the Red Dawn restaurant. It was the worst thing and something he never even thought to look at.

As the people he loved killed in front of him, and he could only see them were killed brutally in front of him without being able to do anything, his body trembled, and he wanted to scream to stop it. But unfortunately, he can't do anything except watch them slowly being tortured in front of him before being brutally killed. 

One by one, his precious people were being slaughtered in front of him. It was really the worst experience he had ever felt in his current life. No, it was the worst experience in every single life, even when it was being compared with the experience of dying in his past life. 

Watching the people killed in front of you while you couldn't do anything. She wants to save them, but his whole body is unable to move and is only able to watch as more and more people die in front of him. 

Similar scenery to something that he saw in a dream before. Dead bodies lying in front of him started to pile up. The smell of blood and the faces of every person who died while looking at him were so real that seems to be angry at him, cursing him and felt unfair because he could only watch their deaths.

The people that he knows and the people she cares about, people in the Red Dawn restaurant started to get killed in front of her and there were also the people he was close with like the worker in Red Dawn restaurant, Darius, his new friends and the owner already killed by the black shadow in front of him. 

Then Brother Winslow and Sister Ancelina run in his direction as if they are trying to protect him from the black shadow attack. 

'NOO!' Ludger was screaming, but nothing came out of his mouth.

Ludger could only see the black shadow killing them in front of him as they were trying to protect him. 

"...No...!" As the flooding sadness came out from his mouth, the two important people that he treated as his family's lifeless mutilated bodies scattered in front of him. 

Ludger's mind went blank as he saw the scenery that he hoped to never see happening in front of him. 

The black shadow sneered at him as if mocking him for being unable to do anything. 

[This is just a horrible nightmare.]

A voice could be heard in Ludger's mind.

[Close your eyes and sleep.]

The voice that trying to sway him and lull him to sleep. 

Ludger who felt heartbroken because he saw such horrible things repeatedly, wanted to listen to that voice and close his eyes. But then someone came closer to him and it was someone he never met in his life.

'What? Why?!' Ludger was surprised and able to break away from the illusion. 

As Ludger got away from the illusion, he could feel that his magic power became chaotic and it twisted his inside. Ludger fell down to his knees and vomited because of the chaotic magic power.

"Ugh...!" Ludger groaned. 

"Ludger!" 

Ludger is able to hear Kismet, who is calling him with a worried voice. 

But he was not in a good condition as his head felt as if it would explode. It was a horrible feeling as Ludger still felt that he was still trapped in the illusion. He could hear the sound of the battle between Kismet and the Tower Master but for some reason, it felt unreal for Ludger. 

The sound of the Tower Master screaming in pain as he got hurt from Kismet's attack. It wakes Ludger up from that illusion.

And then he heard the Tower Master's angry voice. 

"...How dare you hurt me again! I will kill you horribly!"
