Jia Li held her breath as she felt his warm exhales against her skin, soon followed by the warmth of his lips.

She pushed him away. "Xianwu, no more teasing," she cautioned, observing his amused smile directed at her. 

"What did I do?" Xianwu acted innocent, keeping the smirk on his lips.

 "Act like a noble man not an immoral one," she scolded him. 

"I believe in acting immorally around you," Xianwu remarked.  

Jia Li shot a glance at him. 

"Don't look at me with that gaze. It gives me an invitation to do more with you," Xianwu said.

Jia Li looked at her father, who was doing the calligraphy. Once Emperor Xiangwei finished the work, he gazed at his daughter and asked her to take the seat. 


"Know yourself, know your enemies and you'll never be defeated in hundreds of battles," Jia Li read what her father had written on the sheet. Eunuch Yang took the sheet away and gestured for the maidservant to clean the desk. 


"Isn't this quote from the greatest General and strategist from ancient times?" Jia Li asked, her father smiling at her. 


"The Crown Princess is right," Xiangwei stated and asked her if she knew herself well. 


Jia Li nodded her head. "I know what I am Father," she confidently admitted. 


"What about your enemies?" Xiangwei asked.
