Forgive me, my child

Jia Li's facial expressions darkened as she left her seat. Her grandmother went overboard this time.

"I'm not you, Grandmother. I have my own identity and my dreams. You attempted to kill my husband and now you demand the Emperor to send us away. I didn't marry to serve anyone's family nor did I want to follow the norms, which are set for women. I will carve my own path and will stay in this position until the very end."

Emperor Xiangwei asked Jia Li to stay calm. He then told his mother to sit first, then they would resume the conversation.

Xianwu placed his hand on Jia Li's back and began caressing it.

"Don't come to me when you lose everything," Grand Empress Dowager stated. "The Emperor should not encourage his daughter," she added.

"Your Majesty, the Grand Empress Dowager is diverting the matter," Xianwu pronounced.
