You were my hope

Yu Chen looked at the basket in his hand, in which his mother had packed the homemade dumplings and sweets for the Ning Family. He told his mother to send Bai Hé to the Ning Residence, but from her, he found out that his sister was not home.

Dragging his feet out of the house, Yu Chen got into the carriage. "I got one day off from work and Mother asked me to do all this," he mumbled. The carriage began moving and he tightly held the basket, making sure the lunch box inside that holding the dumplings would not be destroyed.

In just five minutes, he arrived at the newly built Ning Residence. The guards stationed there paid their respects with a bow, reciprocated by Yu Chen. Stepping into the premises, he hesitated momentarily, unsure of his destination.
