Wangjie and Ning Hua sat on opposite ends of the pavilion, their legs dangling above the tranquil lake. The water mirrored their positions, creating a serene reflection of each other.
"Such clarity in the water," remarked Ning Hua.
"Yes, it remains untainted, secluded from the bustling crowds. Only those of royal lineage venture here," Wangjie stated confidently. "My initial visit was alongside my father and, of course, my uncle, who now sits as Emperor. My great grandfather commissioned this place— a token of his affection for a lover with whom fate never allowed him to unite," he revealed to Ning Hua.
"I never knew about this. Why couldn't His Highness's great-grandfather be with his lover?" inquired Ning Hua.
