Chapter 27 – Night of Alpha City

While waiting for Ami to finish her shower in their room, Rai contacted Ossa through his System Watch.

The spirit accepted his sudden call, and the hologram showing the floating rat's face popped up on top of the System Watch.

[What's wrong, Rai?]

"I want to go to District 8 of Alpha City once again. This time with Ami."

[And why would you want to go out at this time, with your partner nonetheless.]

"If I said to deepen my relationship, would you allow me?" Rai asked with uncertainty. That was only one of two reasons why he wanted to return to District 8.

[A date, huh? That's bold of you, considering how you were in the past.]

"Thanks to you for messing with my body." He replied with a touch of sarcasm and scoffed. "So? Can I use the teleport room?"

[Sure.] The spirit replied casually. [Ami's clothes have been put in her closet, the left one. And if you go to District 8, can you do something for me? I will answer everything you want to ask tomorrow if you do this little errand.]

"What is it?

[Check that mall for me again. I want to know whether you can still smell that coffee scent or not. Of course, I am talking about your transformed form.]

"Alright." Rai nodded. That was actually the second reason he wanted to visit District 8 again.

'The culprit will always return to check the scene. Heh! I was only a spectator at that incident, so it was no problem if I returned.'

Besides, all traces of his visit in his basic form were already removed from the footage. Not that he cared if his identity was known, but that would limit his activity in the future.

Rai was about to end the call, but Ossa suddenly spoke again.

[Ah, one more.]

"Yeah?"

[Don't forget to go to our training room tomorrow. We will learn how to fly.]

"Alright," Rai replied casually, but there was a hint of excitement on his face.

'Flying! That's nice!'

*Clack!*

At that moment, the shower room's door was opened from the inside, so Rai ended the call.

"I will stop by your office after we return."

[Sure. Enjoy your date, hahaha. Feel free to make some commotion with your partner if you want to. Let her experience her first transformation tonight.]

With that, the hologram screen disappeared, and he raised his head. Ami stepped out in a black sports bra and shorts, a white towel slung over her neck as she wiped her wet hair.

The water that moved down her neckline to her bountiful breasts looked sexy. It slipped past her cleavage to her stomach.

"You done?" Rai asked her without changing his expression.

"Yes." Ami nodded, pulling the towel from her neck. "Is that Leader? Did you get his permission?"

"I did." He confirmed. Then he turned to a closet on the left, pointing at it with his finger. "He also said your clothes have been put inside that closet."

"Thanks."

The dark-haired girl turned around and walked to her closet. When she was about to open it, she glared at Rai, who was still looking at her.

"Can you turn around? I will change."

"My bad." Rai felt a bit awkward and turned to the side instantly.

Even though he was more honest with his desire, he still wasn't that used to girls. It wasn't like he was shy, but his previous personality wasn't all that great, and he was a bit introverted.

'I also want to respect Ami's privacy a little bit.'

"I am done."

Just a few seconds after he turned around, Ami's voice rang from the side. Rai immediately turned to her and saw that she was fully dressed. No, that maybe wasn't an apt description.

She wore a tight, transparent bodysuit underneath an unzipped black jacket and a short dark skirt. Her legs were covered in black knee-high socks, held together with two straps extending to her waist.

The choices of clothes she chose emphasized the curve of her beautiful body, and due to the half-transparent state of her bodysuit, her halterneck crop top underneath was visible. Her hair was decorated with a hair clip, moving her left bang to the side.

"Let's go."

"Alright." Rai stood up and put his hands inside his pockets, and Ami imitated it.

That was when he realized their fashion was similar. Only he had more red colors, while she chose all dark blue and black.

'So she's also a bit strange. I should've known that. No sane person will join Extity, an evil organization.'

At least she was beautiful and had a sweet aroma, which meant her liquid Magicule probably tasted good too.

'I want to try it soon.'

Using the teleportation room, Rai and Ami stepped into the dark portal and arrived at a building on the outskirts of District 8. It was the branch of Extity, with floor 5 having a dummy office for the purpose of teleportation.

Floor 1 to floor 4 were used as an office, with minions working in shifts to make deals with some companies. That was how Extity made money to fund their operation. There were unexpectedly a lot of companies that needed an evil organization's help to crush their rival.

The partner exited the building together inconspicuously and walked down the street illuminated with bright street lights. The lights from the skyscrapers were blinding, enough to turn this night into a light show.

"Where are we going?"

"Dinner first," Rai replied as he walked the familiar street.

He had memorized this path that led to the mall. After walking for a while, Ami realized where they were going.

"Are we going to the Alpha Mall to eat?"

"Yes," Rai confirmed with a nod. "Do you not like it?"

"Not that." Ami shook her head. "But the food there is expensive and not that good. They all came from a processed can."

Hearing that, Rai stopped and looked at her partner. He realized that Ami must've come from this city and knew about this District more than him. And so, he decided to ask instead.

"Do you know where to find good food?"

Ami nodded, "Two intersections after the mall, there is a street called 'Food Heaven.' There are various varieties of food, from canned ones to real vegetables and meat. The price is also not that high."

"Alright."

That indeed sounded good. And processed can? He didn't know that what he was about to eat in the mall came from a processed can. And he could guess that the food in the base was from a can too.

'I can't eat something like that. I have 5000 Grinds from the mission, and 1000 Grinds will be given to me as an allowance every week. I can at least afford a few clothes and food with 1000 Grinds per weekend if the luxury sweet like pudding only costs 40.'

Not many minions had that much money. Even Ami, who participated in the previous mission, only got 1000 Grinds and 500 weekly allowances. However, that allowance became 1000, like Rai, after she was promoted to Captain.

But then, he remembered the price of the mall's food, which was over 400. Thankfully, his money was refunded, so he wasn't that angry.

'That's just robbery!'

Rai followed Ami as she showed the so-called 'Food Heaven' street.

Just as the name suggested, many food stores were on the left and right of the street, illuminated with blue and purple neon lights as hologram screens floated on top of the entrance with each store's specialties logo.

"Whatever you want, we have it here." Ami suddenly spoke as she looked at Rai. "That's this place's motto."

"Sounds good." He nodded. "We will do an errand for Ossa after we eat."

Ami looked at Rai curiously.

'So there is indeed a mission for us.' She thought.

Feeling her curious gaze, Rai turned to Ami and grinned.

"We are going to make chaos tonight."
