Maya hadn't been able to sleep for days after what Bennet told her. She couldn't wait for her father to recover so Bennet would move out. Although he'd been a great help, she was still nervous around him. She didn't understand the feeling. But there were times she thought Bennet wasn't a normal person.
He was unnaturally flexible and could lift heavy things effortlessly. Yes, he was good-looking, and his physique was even more alluring.
What she also didn't expect was the sudden deposit in her bank account from an unknown sender. But then, she found a note along with it:
"For Uncle Mario, the only guardian who protected me."
Maya smiled, though guilt gnawed at her for accepting the money. She withdrew half of it and showed it to her father, intending to use it for his medicine.
"Maya," her father said, his voice stronger now. "You can budget it for the house and everything else, my dear."
