Connection and curiosity

It takes five seconds to intervene.

Five fucking seconds and I do something that is unlike me.

This Rogue.

This man.

Has brought out a reaction in me and I don't even understand it. It makes no sense to me that I would protect him.

But I do.

I can't stand by and watch this scene any longer. As much as I've tried to keep my distance, as much as I've told myself that I shouldn't get involved, I can't ignore the instinct that compels me to step in.

I rush forward, my movements swift and controlled. I reach Milo, who's struggling to get up despite his broken leg, and I place a hand on his shoulder to steady him. "Enough, Milo," I say firmly, my voice carrying a weight of authority that surprises even me.
