Alone in this

Gabriel

My heart pounds with frustration as I try to make my point clear in the council meeting. Lucas has been handling the situation with remarkable patience, but I can feel myself losing it. The council seems hell-bent on doubting us simply because of our age.

"It makes no sense that you would want to bring him into this meeting when he is our biggest threat," I say, my voice laced with annoyance.

Mathias, one of the council members, leans back in his chair, his expression nonchalant. "You say he is our biggest threat, but are we supposed to just start trusting you and Lucas? You have been enemies for as long as we can remember, and now you are on the same team? It is ludicrous."

I can't contain my frustration. "Anyone that defies what we are saying is part of the syndicate. You cannot be in support of Nathanial and not be part of the syndicate."
