Chapter 43 Fate

"SAMANTHA!!!" Johnny screamed out at the top of his lungs. Even though she was currently dangling from the maw of a terrifying dragon, Johnny still mustered up the courage to call out to her. Unfortunately however, it appeared Samantha was either already dead, or knocked out…

The giant red and black dragon fixed its gaze upon Johnny when he screamed out, staring into his soul with its golden yellow eyes and vertical black pupils. This action prompted Johnny's heart to stop. It felt like a god was looking down at an insignificant ant, ready to step on it at a moments notice… The effort require to kill said ant was almost not even worth it.

Johnny, was nothing more than an ant to such a being.

Suddenly, the dragon spoke, only its mouth didn't move. It was as if the voice was being projected by the dragon's ancient and powerful mind.

"Human… Why do you look so suprised? You stormed through the gate into my dungeon, my home, and killed all my subjects. It's only fair for me to kill yours. We are at war, or have you forgotten? " The grand voice spoke with a hint of confusion.

Knitting his eyebrows in confusion, Johnny looked around. He gazed over the signs of battle once more. Bodies sliced to pieces, frozen, crushed, burnt… all of these pointing towards a large battle happening. Yet, Johnny didn't understand or remember why or even how. This dragon was insinuating that Johnny had stormed into this place with other humans and killed all these monsters.

'Humans are capable of taking on monsters of this caliber?' Johnny thought with wonder. That would mean humans somehow had the power to control things like ice, fire and earth on a magical level. Something like that was only ever written about in works of fiction.

'But… the Common Sense Manipulation System is also something that I would have considered fictitious before it was bestowed upon me… Aurora also spoke about others having systems, maybe controlling the elements is the function of other systems?' He theorized, drawing conclusions from the many forms of evidence laid out in front of him.

But, that didn't explain the existence of monsters and why his fellow humans were fighting them in the first place.

Looking up at the godlike being that was the red and black dragon ahead of him, Johnny tentatively voiced some of his thoughts.

"What… I don't remember anything. One moment I was falling asleep after fucking my hot big titty girlfriend, and in the next I was suddenly here in this hellhole."

For a moment, the great red dragon just stared intently at Johnny, observing his every movement and facial expression. This moment couldn't have been more than a few seconds, but to Johnny, it felt like years of agonizing suspense.

But then, all of the sudden…

"BAHAHAHA!"

The dragon burst into laughter, the likes of which shook the entire cavern, causing dozens of earthen spikes and boulders to fall from the ceiling. The sheer force and volume of its laughter, made Johnny's ears and nose bleed, almost causing him to pass out.

Thankfully, the great dragon's outburst ceased just as abruptly as it started, freeing Johnny from its relentless assault on his senses.

"Oh puny human. Perhaps the shock of losing all of your subjects and the battle has effected your sanity. Let me paint you a picture. You, and your disgusting humans were upset that we were invading your weak planet, so you tried to fight back. It was a futile attempt at resisting, but I will admit, you did some damage. However, in the end, humanity has lost. You and your subjects were the last pillar of strength humanity had and you almost won. However, in the face of overwhelming strength, you were powerless. This lead to the scene laid out in front of you…." The red dragon explained with a hint of amusement. It seemed like it was taking it's sweet time tormenting Johnny, enjoying every second it made the annoying human dispair…

Hearing the dragon's explanation, Johnny couldn't help but feel like something clicked in his mind. This… definitely wasn't just a dream. He remembered the questions he asked Aurora, and came to the conclusion that the events the dragon spoke about were what the universe gave humans access to the system for.

'The universe is preparing humans to fight off an invasion. But… why the hell would they give me a Common Sense Manipulation System? Why not a combat related system like the power to move mountains… And more importantly , is this the future? Am I seeing events that will eventually play out? Will all of the women from my harem be killed with me not being able to do anything?' Johnny thought to himself in confusion and a reluctance to accept these circumstances.

He may have been a loser all his life, but recently he had been able to crawl out of that rut. It may have taken the help of the universe, but in the end, he got multiple hot girlfriends and a job. Not to mention he now sort of had a family in Janet and Melissa. Johnny didn't want to lose all of that to anyone, not even this mythical dragon.

This may have been a vision of the future, but Johnny was unwilling to let fate make decisions for him. He would change this future, no matter what happens.

Sensing the human's resolve, the dragon scoffed before throwing Samantha's body into the air… and swallowing her whole.

However, much to the dragon's dismay, Johnny only stared at it with determination in his eyes. It seemed this human was unwilling to yield even in the face of unparalleled power.

"Well human, you have my respect. But this game is over. You shall die like a dog, just like the rest of humanity." Spoke the dragon with disdain, before opening its maw and unleashing a fury of flames that engulfed Johnny, reducing him to ash…
