Chapter 21 – Lunch with friends

Third person POV

Two days later, on a Friday morning, Kichi, after his morning routine and breakfast, went to school as usual ever since his first day there. There he walked through the school corridors towards his classroom. He was positive and happy-going as always, hiding his serious and warrior-like self within him. Then, Haru and David met up with him and started walking with him to class.

 "Good morning, Kichi-kun!"

 "What's up, dude?"

"Morning, guys," Kichi happily greeted them back as the three of them are walking together.

"So, how are you?" David asked.

"I am fine as usual," answered Kichi back.

"That's good to hear," Haru responded.

Kichi then smiled in response.

At Class 1-A, Catalina is sitting on her seat next to Cristy. She was serious and pumped up because of her rivalry with Kichi over 2 days ago. "That little prick will cry if I win against him…" she uttered to herself in determination. She said that with a deep British accent. Cristy hears that, but she didn't ask her what she was saying. She thinks that it wasn't a big deal at all so that is why she didn't raise a question.

And then, Kichi and his friends arrived at the classroom, and Haru opened the door for his friends. The three of them then entered in, before Haru would slide the door close.

"Morning, everyone!" Kichi happily greeted everyone in the classroom.

"Good morning, Kichi-kun," Cristy greeted back in response.

Catalina didn't do the same thing and just focused on her rivalry on Kichi.

Kichi noticed that, but he let that slide since he didn't want to make a fuss with her.

Haru and David saw that, too, and since they couldn't do anything about it, they decided to let it be whatever and however Catalina wanted on their friend.

After that, Kichi and the boys settled on their usual seats and sat down, before putting their school bags nearby. Later, while his homeroom teacher was giving a lecture on World History, Kichi and some of the students were paying attention to him while taking notes in their notebooks. Catalina, however, was focusing on her rivalry on Kichi rather than on paying attention to her teacher's lesson for the day. Kichi doesn't notice that but knows that she is doing it.

Lunchtime came at 12:02 p.m., and Kichi was on the school rooftop eating his lunch in solitude. The school rooftop had trees planted in its soil and dirt, making the place more like a rooftop garden. It also has benches made of concrete and wood. This lunchtime, Kichi had Chicken Adobo and fried rice for lunch, and he also had a bottle of water for drinks. The place was quiet, and he was eating in peace. And then, Haru and David came to the rooftop, only to see him eating in solitary.

"Hey, Kichi-kun!" David said to him in calling.

Kichi heard that, and he looked at him and Haru. "Oh, hey, guys."

He then resumed eating his lunch.

His two friends, carrying their bento lunchboxes, then approached him and sat around him on the concrete bench, before opening their lunchboxes.

They both made a prayer gesture. "Thanks for the food."

After that, both of them grabbed their utensils and ate up. Haru had fried pork tonkatsu and steamed rice while David had steamed rice and roasted mutton. But then, they both noticed Kichi's lunch and were stunned to see that strange-looking dish.

 "Woah, what's that?"

 "That looks delicious."

While eating his lunch, Kichi replied, "This is called Adobo, one of the Philippines' well-known dishes."

"That sounds delicious, dude!" David commented. "Can I have?"

Kichi then nodded, before getting some of his Adobo chicken meat, soup, and rice and placed them in David's bento lunchbox. "Here you go."

He also did the same thing for Haru.

Seeing those pieces of Filipino food in their lunchboxes, Haru and David get some of them and shoved them into their mouths.

They both felt how good the taste of the food was.

 "Woah, it is good!"

"It was sour, but it was very good."

Kichi smiled stopped eating and smiled at them. "You're welcome. I made them myself."

"Wow, you're a good cook," Haru replied back.

 "Yup, thanks."

The three of them continued spending the rest of their one-hour lunchtime on that school rooftop eating, drinking, and chatting about random stuff and topics.
