Chapter 1

TW: Violence, blood, abuse

"You know I love you right?"

"I know." Dean replied.

It was the beginning of May, spring had come and the weather began to grow hotter.

Camille and Dean lay out in the middle of a field, the local football field to the city, though it was rarely used. It was towards the last month of school, both of them Seniors.

They had begun to date when they were in 8th grade, though they'd known of each other for years before that.

They knew all about each other's home lives as well.

Camille had a father who was rarely home, and a very strict mother, her grandmother who had cancer was also living with her. Quite the stressful situation?

Dean had an older brother and a younger sister, his mom was kind and caring, but she worked a lot, and his father was a drunk who only came home when he needed more money, however his visits were never endearing.

They both carried their own baggage, and they tried their best not to let it affect the other, but life was weird, the way it was, what you wish for you never got, though it could end up benefitting you sometime in your life.

Camille went home after her date with Dean. When she walked into the same grey and dreary house, she felt her mood immediately dampen. She handed her phone to her mother who proceeded to go through it before giving it back and then she slowly trudged up the steps.

She walked down the hallway to the backroom where her grandmother was. She sat there talking to her, telling her about her day, knowing she wasn't hearing her at all. It was just one more thing she did to keep herself distracted.

But once she heard her mother coming upstairs with the medicine tray, she knew it was no longer okay for her to be in there.

Camille had no siblings, it was just her, though she pondered if she had siblings she didn't know about since her father was very clearly unloyal, and he spent lots of his time out and about. At times even calling them to tell he's spending a few days in an entire other state.

She knew her mother struggled with the fact that her husband was constantly spending time with other women, he came home maybe once a week, then he'd be out again.

But what wasn't the good part of the bargain was that because of her mother's pain of taking care of her slowly dying mother, and her piece of shit husband, she projected out all of her anger onto Camille, making her miserable as well.

Camille went into her room closing the door and laying on her bed. She thought sometimes about calling Dean, but she didn't want to burden him with that kind of pain.

When Dean arrived home his mother came to the door and hugged him before telling him dinner would be ready soon.

As it got later into the evening, the door was swung open by the heavily drunken man. Dean became immediately wary.

His mother turned around and met his father at the door taking off his jacket. His sister put in her headphones to avoid talking to the man.

Dean's mother, Samantha, walked behind her husband back out into the kitchen to finish cooking dinner.

The man, who Dean really didn't want to acknowledge as his father, said, "Sam where's the money?"

His mother turned around taking a deep breath before saying, "I had to use my paycheck to pay the bills and buy groceries, there wasn't anything left for you to use."

His father slammed his and down before walking over to Samantha. He grabbed her face harshly and Dean watched as his younger sister Daniella closed her eyes and covered her ears.

"What do you mean we don't have any money left, Bitch didn't I tell you to leave me some money!"

Samantha's eyes watered and she tried to explain herself once more.

"If I didn't pay the bills we could be evicted or have our water shut off, I had to pay them, and I had to get food for the house, I'm sorry Drew, but I had to."

He grabbed her collar now and shook her.

"I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT SOME BILLS, NOW TELL ME HOW AM I GOING TO GET MY WHISKEY!!"

Dean had enough and pulled his father off of her.

"Get your hands off of her!"

His father, already in a dangerous mood from being drunk became even angrier.

He walked up to Dean and then pushed him into the wall rather violently.

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE BOY! TO BE TELLING ME WHAT I'LL DO WITH MY WIFE! ILL KILL HER AND THEN ILL KILL YOUR SISTER AND I WILL KILL YOU AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!!" Dean had enough, he pushed his father away before throwing a hard punch to his mouth. His father stumbled and then Dean kicked him in the back causing him to fall down.

Dean climbed on top of him and began wailing his face, to the point his knuckles were covered in blood. His mom was crying and his sister panicking, that broke him out of it was the both of them begging him to stop.

Dean climbed off of his father, who looked like he was struggling to breath."IF YOU EVER FUCKING TOUCH HER AGAIN, FORGET KILLING ANYONE ELSE, I WILL KILL YOU MYSELF, YOU COME HERE AND THINK YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT, BUT YOU DONT DO SHIT FOR THIS HOUSEHOLD, DONT YOU DARE EVER THREATEN MY FAMILY AGAIN!!"

He then turned and walked out of the house, slamming the door.
