Ch.42 Two Days Away

A few days had passed since Dean had his run in with his father. He chose not to tell his mother, afraid her wound might still be too fresh.

Of course the last time she saw him wasn't good either. He'd gotten into the house and fought with Dean, breaking some things in the process.

It was strange. The man he spoke to a few days ago and the man from back then didn't seem to be the same, but they were.

He threw away his Benadryl and decided to just let whatever would come, come. He could deal with it when he had to.

Right now he wanted to focus on being happy.

…..

Camille popped into the house after being dropped off by her mom. She was gushing over the accessories for the wedding. Her friends had arrived in town and were staying at a nearby hotel with there boyfriends.

Dean came up next to her kissing her cheek. "You going to tell me anything?"

Camille smirked at her and turned her head so she was looking at him. "And why would I do that? You already know the groom can't know anything about the bride."

Dean turned away and groaned. "Ah! The suspense!"

Camille laughed. "Shush you big baby."

Dean turned back around giving a grin. "Yeah and you're marrying this big baby."

Camille crossed her arms, pretending to be snobby. "Hmm, well the ring was pretty nice, I couldn't bring myself to say no."

Dean chuckled shaking his head.

Then Daniella trudged out into the living room. Her curly hair was sticking up everywhere.

Dean held in a laugh. "Had a long night Dani?"

She was in the midst of yawning, and she looked at him with a glare. "Oh shut up Dean, you don't look like a princess either."

"Well, one, I'd be a prince, two, who said anything about a princess. You're more like a cave troll."

Daniella reached for a pillow on the couch threatening to throw it at him.

Dean ran into the opening between the kitchen and the living room, Daniella ran after him.

He laughed out loud and ran behind Camille.

"Protect me?"

Camille turned back at him. "Uh-uh, we girls stick together." And then she turned and grabbed a pillow.

Dean looked at her his eyes widening. Camille looked back at Daniella with an evil grin spreading across her face. They cornered Dean and started to hit him with the pillow.

"Ah! Ma help! They're attacking me!"

Samantha had heard the commotion and come downstairs, she laughed when she saw them. "Well there must be a reason Dean, what did you do this time?"

Camille and Daniella threw the pillows back on the couch and went into the kitchen, laughing as they did.

Samantha followed after and so did Dean.

"Damn, everyone here has collectively agreed I'm the problem? My feelings are hurt."

Daniella lightly smacked the back of his head. "Geez how are you about to get married. You act like a little kid."

Dean stuck his tongue out at her.

....

Samantha made breakfast. Toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon.

They had just finished when they heard knocks at the door.

"I'll get it" Dean said. He feared it might be his father. And who knows if he was going to keep his promise of being sober.

But no, it wasn't.

There he saw Scott and the guys waiting at the door, slapping each other and playing around.

Dean opened the door. "Hey! Ya'll are here early!"

They laughed. A jumble of voices together.

"Here to surprise you!" Isaiah said.

"Yeah, remember, man of the week!" Ray added.

"Nah, we really came to scope out the scenery and find a new roommate." Henry said with a grin.

Dean nodded. "Yeah Yeah… well come inside. I'll introduce ya'll to my mom and my sister. You already know Camille."

They filed into the house, standing in the living room. Samantha, Camille, and Daniella walked out of the kitchen.

"Hey guys." Camille said as she went and stood next to Dean.

"This is my mom, Mom this is Scott, Ray, Isaiah, Henry, Jayden, and Jimmy." He said making sure to point to them all.

"Well hello everyone. You can call me Ms. Carter." She said cheerfully. "Please make yourself at home, and let me know if you need anything."

Dean then moved onto Daniella who he could see had smoothed out her hair while their mother spoke.

"This is my little sister Daniella, Dani you heard their names right."

She laughed. "Yeah I heard, nice to meet you all. We've heard about you from Dean."

Scott laughed.

The guys settled in and Dean sat with them on the couch. They started to talk about their typical guy stuff.

The girls they were talking to. Basketball, football, which led to a discussion of which kind of "football" is better. American Football or European football.

Camille had gone upstairs to talk about her dress and find a makeup look with Daniella.

…..

It was evening now. Samantha had cooked a big meal before the guys left heading back to their hotel.

She left again to go get groceries. She had a big list and was probably going to be gone for a while.

Dean got a call from Jackson that he just got to town and he was at his house. Dean felt bad for him. It was a long drive, he left Arizona about a day ago and was just now getting in town. Almost a two day drive.

Dean went into his room and settled at the desk. He reached into the drawer and found his vow paper. He and Camille wrote their own vows, and though he must've read the paper a hundred times, he wanted to check one last time that there weren't any mistakes. From here on out everything had to be smooth sailing. They'd both be busy tomorrow. And Camille wanted to follow the tradition of not seeing the bride before the wedding so she was staying at her mom's tomorrow night.

Dean called Dante.

"Yo?"

"Wassup?"

"You still coming in?"

"Yeah, 'course I am. I'm trynna finish packing my stuff right now and then I'm gonna get on the road tomorrow around noon. Shouldn't be too long. I'll be there on time. I promise."

Dean laughed. "Alright bro, I'll see you."

"See you."

The sound of a click was heard as the call disconnected.

Camille came into the room plopping down onto the bed. Dean went and layed next to her.

"Oh my gosh, it's just one day away." Camille whispered.

"I know." Dean said matching her tone.

"Are you excited." She asked.

"Very." Dean said with a grin.

Not long after Camille's eyes closed and her breathing slowed. She slept facing Dean and he held her close.

He closed his eyes too, eventually drifting off into the realms of sleep. He hoped if he would dream, it would be about their big day.
