'Telekinesis' spell

The feeling of his left hand returned, but Ethan's attention was on his right palm, up which a magic circle was formed and a small ball of condensed flame, around two centimeters, appeared.

[This is a first-circle 'Fire Bullet' spell. Looks pretty strong, isn't it?]

[Yes.]

Answered Ethan, mesmerized.

[You know that I'm a first-circle mage. And you also know now that if you know natural laws, magic will use less mana and be more powerful. So...]

The magic circle up his right palm disappeared, and instead of it, a new, more sophisticated magic circle appeared, which turned into a burning ball around ten centimeters.

Ethan knew the name of this spell. It was second-circle magic, the 'Fireball'. But even though he knew the name of this spell, his common sense refused to acknowledge it. After all, it was an unbelievable sight. And Ethan can only stare at his right palm.

[You should know the name of this spell. So why do you become silent? Are you so shocked that you even forget how to speak?]

Hearing his teacher's words helped Ethan come to his senses.

[Yes, it's really shocking! How did you do that? Is this because of natural laws, knowing which helps you use less mana to form spells and your spells will also be stronger?]

[It's not only because of that. It also thanks to the magic sphere around your mana-heart, which is very complete with your elemental affinity. I think there should be other people with good mana-heart circles who can use the magic of the upper circle than their own. Though, only if they know how their affiliated elements work in nature. So, Ethan, do you still think that my lessons about natural laws were useless for magic?]

Ethan shook his head in shame.

[Um, I was wrong.]

[Good that you understand it.]

The spell disappeared from the top of his palm, leaving only hot air around it. And shortly, his sense of his right hand returned.

[Um, teacher, then which spell should I learn first?]

Asked Ethan eagerly. Though he made one careless mistake, it helped him to understand more about magic. And now he was very enthusiastic about learning some spells.

[It's good that you are enthusiastic. So I will teach you some very necessary spells. Every mage should know them.]

Ethan eagerly waited for his teacher to continue.

[They are just one simple spell, and other spells are based on it. And the name of this spell is 'Telekinesis'.]

[Eh?! But I can use 'telekinesis' already through this wand.]

Ethan took out the wand with the 'Telekinesis' spell.

[Haaa...]

If Ethan was able to see what his teacher was doing now inside the cage, he would see his teacher rolling his eyes.

[You are really dumb, aren't you? This wand only helps you move things that are around you in ten meters. It can't help you throw spells into the distance. Even if it can, I would recommend you learn this spell because it's very helpful to increase your control over mana. So put this wand aside and take the 'Non-elemental magic' book out if you don't want to annoy me even more.]

[Um, okay.]

Ethan put the wand inside the ring and took out the book his teacher mentioned. He flipped through it. The first spell introduced in this book was 'Mana Blast'. It was a simple spell with only three magic symbols. Not very powerful, but enough to push down a grown man if he were in front of the caster in a five-meter range. Ethan ignored this spell for now and flipped to the next spell, which was the 'Telekinesis' spell.

[Begin to study. And if you don't understand something, ask. But try to solve problems yourself; I will be busy checking the artifact blueprint to make sure that everything is perfect.]

[Um, teacher, you said you would teach me.]

[I'm teaching you. If you forget, my knowledge is affecting you, so it shouldn't be difficult for you to learn this spell. So stop complaining and turn your attention to the book.]

[Um, okay.]

His teacher became silent, and Ethan began to learn the spell. As his teacher told him, it was easy for Ethan to learn this spell, but it was difficult to manifest it due to his lack of control over his mana.

After one hour of trying, he was finally able to manifest it. Looking at his palm up, where the spell's circle was formed, a feeling of accomplishment washed over his body. It made Ethan happy, so he wanted to share it with his teacher, but there wasn't a need for that.

[Good, keep practicing.]

Ethan's concertation was broken, and the spell disappeared, but he didn't feel bad about it.

'Guess I should try again. I was able to form this spell once, so it shouldn't be difficult.'

Thinking so, Ethan keeps practicing. And it didn't take him long until he was able to form the spell without problem.

In the 'Telekinesis' spell section of the book, there were some tips to increase his control over the spell. They weren't some sort of secret. It was all about moving different objects in different directions. So Ethan took one iron coin and started to practice with it. When he became skilled enough, he took second, then third, fourth, and so on, until he was able to control ten coins at the same time.

It was really fun magic; it made Ethan feel like he was able to control everything around him in ten meters. So he put the coins inside the ring and moved the book with the spell. After that, he put it on the table and tried to move the table. But the table was heavy and required more mana than coins or a book. So Ethan stopped after he felt how his mana was decreasing at an alarming rate.

He looked inside his mana heart, and there was less than half of his mana remaining. So he took the mana-recovery pill and swallowed it.

[Ho, it looks like you made some progress. Your next task will be controlling elements with the 'Telekinesis' spell. Start with one and increase their number as you do with the coins.]

[Okay. Um, but teacher, ain't you busy?]

[I can spare some of my attention to look after your training, so don't try to slack off.]

Ethan didn't even think about slacking, but saying it to his teacher would be meaningless.

[Uhh, okay.]

And he continued to train his control, as his teacher told him.
