(2nd July 1946)
After the Military boycott following the Red Fort Trial, protests ignited by Durga Devi, UK had no choice but to leave India, since keeping it in control was no longer possible.
Durga Devi was released from house arrest only after the elections, in which she won from Surat while contesting from her house, with 90% votes.
Durga Devi is a 31 year old woman, born as the only daughter of a rich jeweller. She showed incredible intellect from birth, starting to read and write fluently by the age of 1. She went on to expand her businesses, creating world renowed fashion and jewellery brands, opening Durga University which provided the best quality education in India in engineering, management and economics, and funding the Indian National Movement.
Despite being young, and a woman at that, she became the treasurer of the INC at the age of 20, created the world famous 'Financial Constitution', 'Education Constitution', and wrote the renowed 'History of India' as the most accurate book compiling the history of India from the Sindhu-Saraswati Civilisation to current.
Like Karl Marx's socialism, a Durgaism phenomenon has been gaining traction lately.
She is a freedom fighter, an author, a businesswoman, an economist, and a leader.
'Bose died for us! Azad Hind Fauj died for us! Yet why are we the ones who fired the bullet!? Military and Police, I announce that you are no longer British slaves, but proud miliary and Police of Democratic Republic of India, who will not move an inch for the British, but bring down the moon for our country!'
Her iconic speech during the Red Fort Trial calling for everyone to boycott everything British, and military and police to stop cooperating with them and killing our own people, and properly stop cooperating with the British.
Shots were fired at her for the audacity to shout on a mic during the trial, but people shielded her. To stop the Red Fort Massacre, to the Indian police and soldiers present at the Red Fort to shoot the judges and every Britisher.
Indian soldiers and police across the country started to either abandon their posts or kill their British superiors. This made the British to finally start the Independence procedure.
In her latest volume of 'History of India' that she released after her release from house arrest, she titled the event as '1946: Last War of Independence'.
Elections happened when she was in house arrest, at this time too, the result wasn't really THAT different.
Partition was inevitable.
Now, a meeting was being held between 16 of the main leaders of Congress, including her, to elect the president of Indian National Congress.
It was clear that whoever wins this will become the First Prime Minister of India.
The candidates were Durga Devi, Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel, and Jawaharlal Nehru.
The results were:
Sardar Patel: 10/16
Durga Devi: 6/16
Jawaharlal Nehru: 0/10
"Patel ji, congratulations on becoming the party president. I advise to not join the UN unless we are given the permanent seat.
Nehru ji will be a good choice to be the Foreign Minister, and I will start working on integrating the Princely States.
Give me any position as you see fit once the government is formed. Finance and Education are my speciality.
And beware of Jinnah. He was the key instigator in religious riots, and has connections to Churchill. Britain will try to hold onto something from the most valuable subcontinent in the world, even if it comes with carving out a part of our country. And Jinnah will hold the knife to do that."
"Wait a minute... Jinnah ji isn't like that-"
"He IS like that. Whether you want to believe it or not, Gandhi ji. He killed lakhs of non-Muslims just to win in muslim majority seats. He will go to any lengths for authority. His ideal is Aurangzeb and calls Alamgiri as a guidebook. India can't afford another Aurangzeb."
The next day, Sardar Patel took back his nomination. And Gandhi endorsed Nehru. Another voting session took place.
"Gandhiji, what you did was very wrong. Why did you pressure Patel ji into giving up his nomination?"
"He is old now... His health has been worsening, young people should lead the country."
"And Nehru ji is young? He is almost reaching his 60s. Let's do this. Since you are no longer a part of the party, you shouldn't interfere in party matters. Take back your endorsement, and we will vote with anonymous chits.
You can't put pressure on people like this. This is wrong. And against democracy."
"He didn't put pressure on me. I am facing some health issues for a while no too. I willing withdrew."
Sardar Patel said.
"You are too young, Durga ji."
Gandhi ji said.
"31 is not a young age. And age is not a problem to begin with. I have no problem if Patel ji becomes the party president. He is a realist man.
What I have problem is that someone is wielding power in the party without responsibility. Join the party yourself if you want to have any say in the party matters.
I and any other nominee will have a debate. This is India. Even our gods debate with each other and humans. Shastrarth is our culture and history which made it so glorious. Endorsement and preaching is against our history and culture which always worsened our society. British suppressed this and ruled over us for 2 centuries. You want to do the same?
Nehru ji, do you want to debate right now? And Gandhi ji, take back your endorsement and pressure from Patel ji. Either join the party, or stop interfering in the internal matters of the party.
Or else, I am going to leave the party. I can't stand inequality and use of unfair practices."
Durga made her stance clear. She knew this will happen. Even though she is a reincarnator, and has made great contribution to the freedom struggle, being a woman, and being just a 31 year old at that in the crowd of 60s old men was definitely a disadvantage.
She even changed called 'Durga' as her first word so that she will be named after the most respected and powerful goddess.
Perhaps, if she was a little older, things might have been different.
Well, no use in thinking about possibilities.
Nehru was facing a challenge now. He had expected that he will win the votes for the Party President. He half expected himself to lose to Sardar Patel by a slight margin. But he didn't expect that he would not get even one vote.
That's why he had approached Gandhi ji, to whom he was particularly close due to similar ideology.
But he didn't expect that someone in the Congress party will openly go against Gandhi ji. And call him for a debate. Well, it was a good opportunity. He is a statesman. And this will help him in proving his worth.
