Something implicating...

"Beau, Beau."

Asher tapped Beau's arm in haste, calling his name in a bid to jolt him from sleep. If it were up to Asher, he would have left Beau alone to sleep as long as he wanted, but... There was a crucial issue on the ground.

"Beau, please get up."

The ambassador stirred, grumbling as his eyes slowly lost traces of slumber. "Baby... Good morning, baby."

"Good morning, Beau. How was your night?" Asher asked in a rush.

"Was great, but this morning seems troubling." Beau sat up and squinted around the room. "Is the condo on fire?"

Asher didn't want to laugh, but he couldn't help it. Beau was being helplessly funny.

"Beau, there is no fire. I met another note at the door this morning."

Beau looked up and frowned. "Are you teasing me right now?"

Asher exhaled. "Trust me, I'm not." He wished it could be nothing but a tease. Hell, he wished the first note had not come.
