It was like any other day.
Izuku is finally back at work, serving and taking orders from the customers like how swiftly he has always done before. Somewhere around the café, on the exact table he occupies every single visit, Shouto is typing the next chapter of his novel on his trusty laptop. His editor, Aizawa-sensei, has been nagging him to start a draft for quite some time now.
The door chimes, just like any other day, signaling the arrival of a new customer. Midoriya opens his mouth to give his warmest greetings, only to stop midway.
"Deku,"
This catches Shouto's attention, he shifts his eyes away from his laptop screen and sees an unfamiliar man with explosive blond hair.
"K-K-Kacchan," Izuku's whole body is shaking, a sign Shouto has taken note of when he's about to experience a panic attack.
Heterochromatic eyes widen in horror as 'Kacchan', a name he has heard before, aggressively rushes towards Deku. Shouto abruptly stands up, toppling the chair over. He was expecting this Kacchan person to attack Izuku, instead, he sees him entrapping Izuku in a tight embrace as tears start to stream down his face.
"I finally found you."
Shouto could only watch helplessly as the blond man drags his lover outside of the café. Just as he was about to disappear from view, Izuku made a hand gesture saying 'don't worry' and 'everything is going to be alright'. It's odd being the receiving end of reassurance when Todoroki should've been the one telling him this. But he isn't sure.
He isn't sure if it was going to be okay.
Outside the café, Midoriya forcefully removes his wrist away from Bakugo Katsuki's harsh grip.
"How'd you find me?" Izuku says, rubbing his wrist as if Bakugo's skin scalded him.
There was this long pause, Bakugo is looking at him with an expression like this isn't what he wants to elicit from him.
"I searched all over for you," Kacchan grits his teeth, nails digging deeply on his palms. "I did everything just to find you and this is your reaction the first moment you see me?"
"I don't know what to say," Izuku turns away, refusing to meet his gaze. He tries to hide how much his knees are shaking, how sweat is soaking is back, and how much his heart is racing right now to point he can't even breathe anymore.
This upsets Bakugo. He closes the space between them, Midoriya's breath hitches expecting the worst-case scenario: getting choked or beat up in the alley on broad daylight. That was all but what Bakugo does. He cups Midoriya's cheek with the warmth of his large hands, Izuku remembers how much he missed this sensation. Bakugo looks at him with intense eyes, Midoriya feels he might melt any second now.
"Look at me, Deku." He whispers, voice so tender it seems all to foreign to him. "I miss you."
Forest green eyes upon hearing the implications of his words. Deku pushes him away and Kacchan stumbles backward. Crimson eyes dilate, emitting a clusterfuck of emotions.
"This is inappropriate, Kacchan," Izuku warns. "You shouldn't be doing this."
"I shouldn't be doing this?" Katsuki demands. "What you shouldn't have done is disappear in plain sight."
And with that, he breaks down. Bakugo wraps his arms around Midoriya, resting his face on the man's shoulder. Midoriya didn't know what to do, a normal person would comfort Bakugo. But he isn't normal, their relationship isn't normal. Any slight interaction between them could break the wall he built a long time ago, and he doesn't want. Not just for himself but for the both of them.
"Please, Kacchan." Izuku begs, his voice shaking and wary. "I don't want them to check upon us. Gods know what Iida will do when—"
"Ah, that four-eyed bastard." Bakugo abruptly pulls away, wiping the tears off of his snarl. "He refused to tell me where you were, that's why it took me longer to find you. It's all his fault, Deku, it's all—"
"Maybe the reason why he didn't tell you is that I didn't want to be found!" Midoriya shouts, not wanting his friend to be bad-mouthed.
Bakugo finally calms down. Izuku thought he could finally sigh in relief when Bakugo's next words sent him completely off-guard.
"So tell me, Deku, what was the reason? What was the reason for you to leave me in the dust?"
"I..."
"Tell me, Deku." Bakugo's voice turns an octave higher.
"Kacchan, please I..."
"Tell me,"
"Kacchan—"
"Please leave, Bakugo-kun. You don't want me to report you to the police for harassing my employee." They both turn around, only to see Iida glaring at Bakugo with eyes full of anger. "I told you not to go anywhere near Midoriya-kun, didn't I?"
"Fuck you," Bakugo growls. "I don't give a fuck about what you say—"
"Please Kacchan," For the nth time today, Midoriya begs. "lets talk about this next time."
Izuku already feels regret the moment he utters his words. Kacchan's eyes widen in delight upon hearing the word again. He immediately turns docile upon hearing Midoriya's promise.
"I'll contact you soon," He says with a tender smile, but before leaving he gives Izuku one last embrace.
As soon as Bakugo disappears from sight, Izuku's knees buckle down and he falls down to the floor. Tears start trickling down his face as he starts to wail. Iida kneels down on the floor, giving his best friend a reassuring rub on the back.
"Will you be alright?" Iida assists him to stand again. "Want me to inform Todoroki and bring you back to your apartment?"
Izuku shakes his head. "I don't want Shouto to worry."
After a few more minutes, Izuku finally calms down and stands up. Iida uses a handkerchief to wipe his tears away and Midoriya smiles in appreciation for his best friend.
"Bakugo is still the same rude man that he is." Iida shakes his head in disgust. "He's surprisingly easy to deal with when you're the one talking to him."
Izuku grasps his chest, breathing heavily.
"It's because I broke him."
