Midoriya Izuku leans down, resting his elbows on his thighs. If he were back to his old self, he would've lit a cigarette right now. But that was him who he promised not to return to ever again.
He is a changed man.
Instead, he sighs and stares at the carpet of cherry blossoms beneath his feet, deep in thought.
Suddenly, an idea, a rather obvious one he should've done before, popped up inside of his mind.
He fished out his phone from his pocket and began typing.
'Hey, Kacchan. It's me, Deku.
No words are enough to show how I regret that we ended up like this. I would've preferred that we ended on a positive note, that we could've been friends if you permitted it. But I realized that it isn't the time for us to have any close relations. But I know, someday, we'll be able to mend our relationship. After all, first and foremost, you're my best friend. And I don't think our bond will disappear so easily.
I would've preferred if I told you this personally, but for some reason, my mind was completely blank as I was talking to you. You also know that I'm a natural coward, and I'm sorry that I ended up hurting you because of this trait of mine.
It's against my morals to leave everything behind, you know that. But I need you to move on Kacchan, not for me, but for you. I know it's just going to be painful for you if you keep holding on to this. I don't believe in a god, but you'll always be in my prayers, Kacchan. I think you're a great person with a kind heart and I know you'll meet someone great as well.
Sorry for the lost text message. This is goodbye, for now.'
Knowing Kacchan, he might be thinking that Deku was bullshiting him with the line 'you're a great person with a kind heart', but it's the truth. Even if he doesn't see it himself, Deku does.
Kacchan is the kindest person he has ever met, even if you argue with him that he is anything but.
For some reason, the memories of Kacchan and their days together flooded his mind. The laughter, the fights, the wordless apologies, the banter, everything. Kacchan was wrong when he said Deku moved on easily. Because he hasn't. There's still a part of him that was healing.
But Todoroki is there, supporting him. And for some reason, everything is alright now.
He was about to send the message when he notices that the signal of his mobile device was terribly low. Sometimes, it was flickering to no service. Deku sighs, hoping for the best as he clicks send.
He waits for Kacchan to reply but to no avail. Deku frowns, maybe his text didn't send.
Shaking his head, Deku decides to text his lover, Shouto. Shouto told him to inform him once they're finished so he can pick Deku up.
'We're done,' He texts and clicks send.
After a few seconds, his phone vibrates.
