First Day At School

Tan and the gang got to school. They had been assigned to the fourth floor, lucky enough, Marianne and Mario were in the same class. Tan had decided to show his interest in Marianne so he chose a seat next to hers, classes were mostly theoretical in the sophomore year so Marianne decided to skim through her notes.

"You never gave me your number, queen." Tan started a conversation with her.

"You never asked. How was I to know that you wanted it? Plus we live in the same house!" She said.

" I wanted to, but you were all I was thinking of. You're a beauty dear. "He said

" I know!" She said.

"Do you mind a date?" He asked.

"You are just new on Earth but you are so bold. Have you heard of Dona, he is my boyfriend." She said.

" Truth is, I know you have a boyfriend, but still I like you, I can make you smile."He said.

"Too frank, wait until you get to see him, you're not his match dear." She said.

"Back at home, my dad said I couldn't get fire as my element, but I proved him wrong, just like I'm gonna do it again." Tan said.

" We shall see, and you have a higher chance since we're housemates, and you have a cool sister." She said. " The teacher is in class already!"

Miss Lee Na Won or miss Lee as they called her was of Asian descent with long black hair and a beautiful face, she placed her bag on her table and leaned on it as she faced the class.

"I see new faces, hmm...., you should be Cloe, and you must be Tan. Just stand and say your name and a game you are good at." She said lazily and sat on her chair.

"I'm Cloe Kim,I enjoy athletic activities, and am good at the same." Cloe said.

" Im Tan Kim, I play soccer, and I really like it." Tan said.

" Welcome to Class 2B, well, the guys have a soccer match today so Mr Kim, you can show up as a hidden card, back to business..." The class went on up to break time. There would be no class after the lunch break to allow students ample time for their own personal research and innovation, as the era was of inventions and innovations. That Monday was an exception as there were games to be played,one for students against teachers, another for class 2B against Mubs Rangers, it was first of the two home and away friendly games organized by Mario who was the class 2B team captain in soccer.

Mario took Tan to the school sports center where Tan got a green jersey with a matching pair of shorts and stockings, Mario also gave Tan a pair of soccer boots as the school didn't provide those and Mario had over five pairs, they entered a room were they would have the jazz number and player name printed on the jersey. Tan had "JOKER" printed instead of his name and chose 99 as his jazzy number. By the time they got to the school stadium, it was already half time and the billboard screen on the opposite stand read 3-1 in favour of the students. Tan had yet to change so he looked around and saw Marianne with a brown guy jazzing happily, he saw the guy in the same uniform as the one he had got, just that his was marked 10, he was an attacking midfielder or striker, or so, Tan thought. Soon the match commenced and Tan walked towards the dressings room, he found thirteen of his classmates already changed so he also did, the guys never minded him so he chose to remain silent. Mario came and told them their roles, Tan was told he would replace Mark, right winger in the second half of the game so he got a jacket.

Soon the Mubs Rangers arrived and also changed in another room, they were told to get to the pitch in three minutes as it was already a few minutes past 2 in the afternoon, Tan went and sat on one of the benches and watched. Mario was a striker, and a good one as Tan saw but the ball just refused to get to the back of the net. The Mubs Rangers on other hand had netted three goals, it would have been more had not Aala been a good goalkeeper, At the beginning of the second half, Tan entered the pitch and settled well on the right wing, he had Rama as his full back, Sane as his nearest defensive midfielder, Donna as his attacking midfielder and Mario as their striker.

After ten minutes of possession by the Rangers, Sane stole the ball and passed it to Donna, Donna gave Tan who set it and chipped a cross pass into the box, Mario who was there headed it in and they found themselves running towards the corner flag.

"Thanks, that was a great pass Donna." Tan said.

" Well you did better, you bested us all." Donna said. They went back into the game. Garne was on the left wing, he got a ball from John Bosco the second DM, he made a run towards the arc of the box but was tackled by the Ranger midfielder, and they got their free kick, Donna took it, he shot a curve ball leaving the goal keeper in thoughts. The game was now getting fun with on side leading narrowly.

Five minutes later, John Bosco made a long pass to Tan, Tan made a run and managed to leave the defenders by a metre or so,he got to the arc, the goal keeper had left the goals empty, a swift dribble left the goal keeper down and Tan scored, students shouted with joy as Tan made his celebration. Gad, the rangers striker started the game again, it was just a few minutes to full time and all sides wanted a winning goal. The Rangers attacked leaving only one defender and a ball landed on Garnet, he gave Mario who made a run into the opponent's box and gave Tan a minus pass which he tapped into the net. The referee blew the full time whistle a minute after the fourth goal.
