They all sat on the ground after the fight, restoring their breath, and Damon also had to recover his MP.
It seemed that killing higher-level monsters gave more EXP, which was nice. Plus, that level 3 spider gave them 15 points, which was way higher than the wolves.
If they kept killing these spiders, it would be a fast level-up for all of them.
After everyone restored their energies, they kept going forward.
Damon had been the only one carrying a torch, as the rest of them had to use both hands to wield their weapons.
That's why everyone walked closer to each other so that they could see their surroundings.
Soon enough, another Rock Spider showed up. It had the same looks as the other one, as well as the same level.
So, Damon and his party used the same strategy to deal with it. First, Henry would block the spider and then send it flying. After that, Shawn would finish it off.
Rebecca did not even need to help in those fights, saving her mana when they truly needed it. Also, getting free EXP was not that bad…
The Rock Spider died instantly with only one dagger attack on its unprotected belly. Damon was the only one that needed to use MP to keep Henry at full HP.
They kept exploring the mine, and more and more Rock Spiders showed up, all to die in the hands of Damon's party.
Damon was enjoying his time there. It was fantastic to just stay behind, command the party, heal, and buff when necessary.
Obviously, he missed an attack spell, but he knew Clerics could get those at higher levels, and there was also the chance of him changing his class.
"Damon, man. It is so much easier with you around here. The last time that we all played together, there was no one acting like a leader, at least not someone good at it. But you? You're a general in combat, and we can grind like crazy with your healing." Shawn said.
He could not stop praising how helpful Damon had been. Not only him but Henry and Rebecca as well.
Without anyone realizing it, Damon had turned into the group's pillar. The person who kept everything together.
"Thanks for the compliment, but all of us have an important role to play in our party," Damon said, and that was true.
Everyone had a role to play, and without one of them, the party would not thrive.
It was strange to see Damon saying that many nice words. He was acting gentle to everyone, not looking like a Demon Lord. Well, that was the case, indeed.
It had been so long since he had his powers, his demon army, that he had lost his domineering manner, his cruelty.
Damon hoped that Bless would bring that back.
After resting and chatting, they kept going forward. More and more Rock Spiders showed up, eventually, they had to fight against two at the same time.
They used the same strategy, but it was harder to keep Henry with full HP, as there was no way he could block both attacks at the same time.
While Henry blocked one, the spider jumped and attacked him.
[-38 HP]
The damage dealt by the spiders was no joke, and Damon quickly cast a healing spell to restore some lost HP.
"Aaah, this thing hurts," Henry yelled.
Bless had a pain system, but it was less than actual pain. But still, two spider fangs pierced Henry's skin, which hurt a little.
It was a tough battle, and Henry lost more than half of his HP, but in the end, it was a win for Damon's group.
Until that point, they had killed many spiders, which got them closer to level 3.
"We will be the first to reach that!" Rebecca said, excited.
Everyone else felt the same way, and things seemed to progress quickly and safely.
That was until something happened. They were resting in the same spot after the battle to restore both HP and MP, but at that moment, the mine shook.
"What's that? An earthquake?" Damon said as he got up.
He was the only one far from the others, and as the walls and roof started to shake, multiple rocks fell from above.
"Watch out!" Henry yelled, and he was the quickest to realize what was happening.
The only thing he could do was push Damon so that the rocks did not fall all over him.
Damon fell, avoiding being crushed by the rocks. But that did not mean everything was okay.
A wall of rocks formed that separated Damon from the rest of the group, and to make things worse, the ground he was standing on broke, and he fell into a hole.
Henry moved back after pushing Damon away, sitting on the ground.
"Damn, that was close."
"Damon, can you hear us?"
Shawn tried to see if Damon could hear even behind the wall, but that seemed not to be the case.
"Let's text him."
They tried to message him through the game, but none of their text messages worked.
It was as if he was inside a place that not allowed communication with the outside world.
Rebecca did not like how the situation turned out to be. She walked from side to side and said, "What will we do now?
"Without a healer, our time here will be a nightmare." Shawn was in deep thought.
"The only thing we can do is move on. The way back is blocked, so the only way to leave is finding another way out or dying."
"Dying and losing our precious levels? Never. Let's find a way out." Rebecca was not willing to lose EXP.
Every time you died in Bless, you would lose EXP, and dying too much could result in losing a level, or more than one.
"All right, let's move then. Damon is still logged inside the game, so maybe we can find him." They moved, looking for a way out and also looking for Damon.
"Ahhh, my head."
Damon felt a sharp pain in his head. He got up, scanned the surrounding area, and realized he was not in the mine anymore but in an old temple.
