Fighting for Her Freedom

Hadn't she been the one that had told her not long ago, that Cedric was bad for her? The girl had managed to detect Cedric's true colors even before she did. How could she tell her now to marry him?

"Don't get me wrong, Young Miss." Ara went on, still keeping her voice to a whisper. Her eyes went to the door cautiously before she turned back to Lucy and continued. "What I mean is, now that your parents are no longer mad at you, wouldn't it be better not to anger them further?" She tried to reason with her.

Lucy did not know what the maid was driving at. She didn't even know if she should keep listening. Her words were more than she could take. She couldn't bring herself to entertain the idea of getting married to Cedric. She might sound cruel even to herself, because that only meant going against her parents and angering them. But she honestly couldn't. The idea of marrying Cedric scared her to the core. It made her shiver inside.
