2 Rings

November 9th 2022

It's been a few days since I saw Arianna again. There haven't been any calls from unknown numbers to any phone in the house, not even mine. So my anxiety has been at Its peak.

I haven't gone to school at all this week because of my sickness that refuses to suffice. After that terrifying experience I never left the house for anything.

Even though I've been seeing spirits for years now, I've never met any like that one before and I don't ever plan on meeting one again.

And if that dreaded phone call does take place I'll do everything in my power to stop my mother from sending me there.

It doesn't matter if those people want me in their 'school' to teach me about these strange abilities that just developed one day. I've always acted as if it wasn't there and that's kept me safe until this point.

Even that spirit from before would've left me alone if I just pretended that it wasn't there, that I'm sure of.

Everything would've been fine if I just never met any of those people. Addison, the old lady, that teacher who I forgot the name of and Arianna. I sigh before flopping onto my bed and eventually falling into slumber.

In the morning after took a very needed hot shower, I started to do the homework from yesterday's classes sent to me by Aaron until I heard the familiar ringtone of my mother's phone.

Looking up I left my room and made my way across the hall to my mother and step fathers bedroom. One ring and then two and she answers.

Through the barely opened bedroom door I could hear my mother's voice asking who the person who called was followed by yeses and nods of her head.

This is it the dreaded phone call. I watch as my mother puts down her phone, smiles and proceeds to look at me through the cracked open door.

"Jenna darling, can you come here for a minute?" My mother asked with a warm smile on her face. I nod my head and begin to walk towards her with bated breath a million excuses already running through my head.

When I finally entered her room, I put on the warmest smile a can muster at the moment. "Is there something you needed mother?" I asked, barely holding my words together.

"I just got off the phone with your homeroom teacher, and she says that havenslots summer school branch has given you an offer to join them for classes during your vacation."

I take a deep breath before replying "Mom I can't do that, I barely ever have time for myself as it is and I don't think going to some vacation school is going to help me."

"Jenesis Elizabeth Laurier, I already accepted and if it makes you feel better they only use half of your break for each term for the extra lessons so you'll have plenty of free time left over."

"But mom-"

"Ah ah I don't wanna hear it young lady and who knows maybe you'll become top of your class again, I mean not revising enough is what made your grades drop isn't it."

At her final words I feel something pang at my heart. Before primary school ended my mother wanted to send me to one of those fancy all girl schools for the rich and gifted but when my test scores came out my grades seemed to rapidly drop.

And after that I didn't have a high enough score to get into any of the schools so my mother decided to send me to Havenslot.

"Ok fine I'll go to their stupid summer classes." She smiles again before replying with an excellent and sending me away.

What the hell did she mean by Havenslots summer school branch, since when did they have a summer school branch? I just sigh and make my way back to my room to finish my homework. So much for doing everything in my power.
