AFTER TWO WEEKS

For more than two weeks, Elijah was under medical supervision and did not see his friends. There were no visits from anyone. Elijah didn't know what was happening, not even his supervising masters. Elijah suspected that he remained Gideon's prisoner and captive.

The young man's body was in good health, and he even felt very bored. Unfortunately, he could not leave the treatment room, which was guarded around the clock by the deformity. The longer he was there, the more curious Elijah became about what was going on.

The door to the treatment room opened and a doctor entered. Elijah recognized the doctor, a woman in her 50s, a refugee from the area around Milton's base. Because of her profession, Patty had been made one of the doctors at headquarters.

Patty's gray hair was always in a bun, and her face was friendly, though she didn't talk much. There was little that she told Elijah, and most of it was just small talk.
