THROUGH THE TUNNEL

There was no activity around the tunnel they were about to enter. Although some of the ruins that the ants had probably carried through the tunnel to build a fort were gone. Carol looked down the hole like a slide to make sure the ants had not closed it.

"It's safe," the girl said quietly.

"Shall we go down?" Josh looked at the others, who nodded in unison.

The eight figures glided through until, a few minutes later, they finally reached a dark tunnel, the smell of fish mixed with mustiness. Josh lit the lumen and so did Drew, as did Isaac with a fire in his hand.

"Seeing him release fire like that makes me feel like I'm living in the medieval era," Josh whispered as he elbowed Elijah on the shoulder. "Especially since he bullied you at the academy. That's what people do in the Dark Ages."

"I hear you," Isaac commented.

"So what, it's the truth." Josh shrugged casually.
