Chapter 7

Not knowing, the window on the other side suddenly opened, revealing the guy who had moved in yesterday.

He looked in my direction with his sparkling blue eyes, reminding me of the same blue eyes I saw in the bush last night. He kept staring at me, giving me a scary look, so I quickly pulled the curtains to cover the window.

Unable to understand anything, I decided to unravel the mystery behind everything that had happened to me. We left the house and took a stroll down the road that led to one of the playing fields on Oxford Street.

I sat down on one of the benches while Alice and Jessica started playing football with the ball they had brought along. I kept thinking about the new guy, and I could feel his eyes on me. I turned to look around, but there was no sign of him.

I turned my attention back to my closest friends playing, and once again, I felt that same gaze on me. "What's happening to me?" I asked myself, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath. "Are you okay?" I heard a voice asking me.

I opened my eyes and saw Jessica standing in front of me, holding the ball. "I don't know what is wrong with me," I answered her, and she left the ball on the floor and sat beside me.

"You can tell me what's wrong with you," she asked again. "Something doesn't feel right," I told her. "Are you sure it's not just your thoughts worrying you about something?" she asked, but I remained quiet without answering her. "Let's go back home,"

I finally broke the silence. "But we just arrived here," Alice protested from behind. "Look, if you're not ready to leave, then I'm going back home," I said and left them behind. I walked until they were out of sight.

After walking for some distance, the whole street became quiet, and the only thing I could hear was my footsteps. I continued walking, and then I heard footsteps behind me.

I turned to look, but as soon as I turned, the sound stopped, and there was no one behind me. I kept walking, and the sound returned. Again, I turned and looked, but there was still no one.

To get home early, I decided to increase my pace, not looking behind me as I walked alone. Within no time, someone tapped me on the shoulder, and I started screaming. "What's wrong with you?" I heard a voice while another voice started laughing.

"Come on, girl, there's nothing here," the voice said again, and this time it sounded like Jessica's. I opened my eyes and saw Alice and Jessica standing in front of me. "Jesus Christ, you scared the hell out of me," I said, hitting Jessica on the shoulder.

"Sorry, dude, we didn't mean to scare you," Jessica said, still laughing. "It's not funny, girls," I told them and walked away from them. "Wait for us!" they ran faster and caught up with me, but I didn't pay them any attention. I entered the house, went upstairs, and closed the door behind me.

I went to the washroom, washed my face, pushed my hair aside, and looked at myself in the mirror, feeling miserable. Ever since those people moved into the neighborhood, everything about me had become miserable. "I'd better stay away from that boy," I said to myself and wiped the water from my face with a towel.

"Today's class with the math teacher was very boring," Alice broke the silence when we went out for lunch. "I didn't really enjoy the lesson either," I joined Alice, telling her how our teacher was adding unnecessary words to explain a topic to us.

"What the teacher did was really crazy. He didn't even notice that the students were not understanding what he was teaching," Jessica added.

"I felt sick during the whole lesson until the period was over," I exclaimed. We kept talking and laughing until something caught our attention. "OMG, isn't that the new guy and his sister?" Jessica shouted, dropping her cup of coffee on the floor. "Technically, yes," Alice added, looking excited.

I kept looking at them until they entered the principal's office. "Are they coming to school here?" Jessica asked. "I bet they're going to school here with us," Alice said.

These two were already making me sick with their obsession with the new guy joining our school. They came out after a while, and their dad followed them, holding some papers in his hand.

My eyes suddenly locked with his blue eyes, and they sparkled without blinking. I looked away and saw his sister holding onto him, but he kept looking at me with a strange expression on his face.

I turned away from him, not wanting to encounter those scary blue eyes that reminded me of the other night. "Since his sister is young, I guess she'll be in my class," Alice concluded, daydreaming aloud.

"You two are so into this boy. What do you see in him that keeps attracting both of you?" I asked them on our way back home. "Please, Bella, if you don't see how hot he is, I certainly do," Jessica said, taking my sister's side. "Don't mind Bella; she's just so dramatic for my liking," Alice added, and they both laughed at me. "Oh, really, Alice?"

I asked, feeling anger building up inside me. "This is nothing to get pissed off about, Bella. Besides, she's right," Jessica said, taking my sister's side. I didn't want to engage in an argument with them, as it would only add to the headache I was already having.
