Chapter Six: Green Snake

He stared at Valerie with a smile on his face and he gave a short chuckle as her countenance changed from murderous to confused

"I'm sorry, but why do you need me to be your assistant?"

"You seem capable and experienced. I love people that are really diligent and smart"

She inwardly scoffed. It was really obvious this man was lying with his tongue in his teeth. She furrowed her brows "What about Stella? She is your assistant"

His gaze darkened as she mentioned Stella but it was only for a moment before he returned back to his aloof gaze "she's getting rusty. I need someone with fresh experience and much more younger"

She stared at him. He looked really serious and this scared her "Why me?"

He sighed "you are competent enough"

This was what he said to her, but inside his mind was screaming something else 'Even I don't know why it has to be you'

She frowned "hmmmm, but what if I refuse?" She suddenly asked and his smile turned to a smirk.

"Then I'll fire you and make sure you don't work anywhere in any company every again! And if you try to go abroad, trust me, I will hunt you down and make you suffer"

He said all this with a smile that made him look like an innocent god.

Valerie wanted nothing more than to tear her hair off.

What was wrong with this man?! Did he have a screw loose in his head or something?!

She groaned internally but outside, she kept a stoic emotion "Are you threatening me?"

He chuckled "Whatever you wish to term it, just know that you must become my assistant!"

She held her head and grunted. This was a huge opportunity for her and also one of great loss. She wasn't ready to accept his offer

She blinked at him "Say I accept this, when do I begin work?" She asked him and his eyes lit up

He looked like a lost child that had been found.

"You can start Monday "

She nodded her head and left the room when she was sure she wouldn't be needed any more. On her way back, she kept thinking about his office.

She couldn't quite place a finger on it too.... Dragging a smile that seemed so suspicious, she shivered indirectly.

That man was a green snake...
