Chapter Thirty Nine: Nobody Else!

Valerie found herself tongue tied as she was instantly lost for words.

She just stared at him, starstruck.

The fireflies floated above their heads like little twinkling stars and complimented the mood.

Aiden smiled and squeezed her hand "You don't have to give me an answer now, I've waited for you for centuries. I'm willing to wait for a few more days. I'll be traveling back home tomorrow morning, so I won't be in a town for a few days. I won't rush you, so you have all the time in the world to think about it. When I get back, I'll be waiting for your answer"

"When will you be back?" Valerie asked softly

"In a week's time"

She pursed her lips and lowered her eyes. She felt something, she couldn't explain, but she felt it. She would miss him, she knew that, but she just, wasn't ready to admit it yet.

They spent the night watching the fireflies in silence as the gentle breeze carried it's tranquility in the air around them.
