===Chapter 5: About to Become Famous===

"It's confirmed. The patient has a rather severe case of irritability disorder. Please take note," the psychologist said.

"Does he really have a mental illness?" the female police officer asked, her expression serious.

"Yes," nodded the psychologist, his hands tucked into his white coat. "I'm leaving now, but I'll provide a psychological evaluation report for the patient tomorrow."

"Oh... alright. Thank you, Dr. Cheng," the female police officer responded.

"You're welcome."

Once the psychologist left, the female police officer pondered and said to the male police officer beside her, "It seems... we need to reassess our speculations regarding the cause of Chen Yu's death."

"I'll report it to the chief," the male police officer replied before walking away.

Inside the interrogation room, Chen Yu, who had overheard everything, had the urge to burst out and proclaim his mental state. However, it was evident that doing so would only further reinforce the belief that he had mental issues.

After a moment of silence, Chen Yu sat back on the "regret chair," trying his best to maintain a calm demeanor.

After about half a minute, the iron door of the interrogation room was cautiously pushed open by the female police officer, revealing half of her head as she checked on Chen Yu's condition.

"Hello," Chen Yu managed a faint smile, speaking politely. "Please have a seat."

"Chen Yu, how are you feeling now?" the female police officer spoke in an unusually gentle tone, as if coaxing a child.

Chen Yu remained silent.

"Are you feeling physically uncomfortable?" the female police officer asked.

"Beautiful sister, as a police officer, you should possess sufficient judgment. I am not ill," Chen Yu replied.

The female police officer nodded. "I understand. People with illnesses often refuse to acknowledge their condition. I believe you will regain your health."

"Fine, I admit that I am ill," Chen Yu finally surrendered.

The female police officer continued nodding. "Therefore, you mustn't give up on treatment."

"Damn it!" Chen Yu slammed the table, his anger boiling over. "That doctor is the one who's sick! His whole family is seriously ill!"

"Please calm down," the female police officer sternly stepped back. "Irritability disorder is not as frightening as it seems. It can be self-healed through adjusting one's emotions."

Chen Yu fell into silence.

Observing the female police officer for a while, Chen Yu sighed and weakly waved his hand. "Forget it, just take me back to the dormitory. I want to rest for a while."

"Okay."

Following the female police officer, Chen Yu arrived at his temporary residence, where he plopped down on the bed, unwilling to move.

This place was a dormitory specially arranged by a certain police officer for him.

Because he was not a criminal, it was impossible for him to stay with the criminals.

Seeing that Chen Yu seemed to have "calmed down," the female police officer felt relieved and left, closing the door behind her.

In the narrow dormitory, he was alone. Looking at the empty ceiling, he felt a tingling sensation on his scalp. The sense of impending doom grew stronger.

He increasingly longed to go home.

Even though they were both staying in one place without moving, controlling oneself was called freedom.

Being controlled by others was called a crisis...

"..."

"..."

"What a disaster."

Perhaps he was truly tired.

Unconsciously, Chen Yu fell asleep. The daylight quickly turned into darkness.

When he woke up again, he was awakened by the noisy ringing of a phone.

"Hmm?"

Groggily rubbing his eyes, Chen Yu instinctively took out his phone from his pocket and answered the call without looking, placing the receiver by his ear.

"Hello? Little brother?"

The familiar voice made him more awake. He sat up and yawned. "Hello? Sister?"

The worried voice on the other end of the phone said, "Are you at the police station? How did you end up with the title 'corpse' on your head?"

Chen Yu suddenly jolted. "How do you know about it?!"

"I saw it on TV! It was just broadcast on the local Qingcheng TV station at noon! What happened to you? Did you offend someone?"

"What the hell? How did those bastards in the media report it so quickly?" Chen Yu's emotions, which had previously calmed down, were about to explode again.

"What's going on? I've been wondering why you haven't come home for almost a year," the voice continued, "So this is the reason..."

"It's a long story. Let's meet in person when we have the chance, and I'll explain everything," Chen Yu interrupted. "For now, don't let our family know. Keep it a secret from Mom."

"It was Mom who told me," the voice said.

Chen Yu fell silent.

After a moment of silence, Chen Yu, exhausted, said, "Alright, I'll hang up now and call home."

Without waiting for the other person to respond on the other end of the line, Chen Yu ended the call and dialed home directly.

"Ring..."

Soon, the phone connected, and Chen Yu's mother's voice came through, "Son, did you send money again? I've told you, your father's surgery isn't urgent."

"Well... it's not that. I didn't send money," Chen Yu hesitated. "I wanted to talk about the news that was reported today..."

"You've seen it too, right?" Chen Yu's mother suddenly sounded excited. "It's so interesting, the title 'corpse' hanging over the head of an unlucky guy! Now you don't have to die in vain. The victim and you are both in Qingcheng. So you and your sister have to be careful outside, don't get into trouble, and pay attention to your safety. Don't do dangerous part-time jobs for the sake of money."

"Mom, didn't you recognize who that person was?" Chen Yu asked.

"Who? Do I know them?" Chen Yu's mother sounded puzzled.

"Alright, Mom, never mind. I'm busy. I'll hang up now," Chen Yu ended the call.

"..."

"... What is this inexplicable sense of loss?"

With a thud, Chen Yu lay back down, let out a deep sigh, and after a moment of clarity, he got up and walked into the even narrower bathroom. He washed his face quickly, put on a hat to cover the "title," and walked out of the police officer's duty dormitory.

The corridor was empty.

Outside the window, it was pitch black.

The windows were open for ventilation, but they were barred, so there was no way to escape.

Chen Yu stood with his hands in his pockets for a while, then walked towards the lobby of the police station.

After studying in Qingcheng City for two years and combining it with the memories in his mind, he knew that the local TV station's noon news would be replayed in the evening and the next morning. He decided to go and see how those damn reporters were reporting the news.

Had they not shown his face?

When he reached the lobby, the duty police officer was an old comrade, sitting with his legs crossed, drinking tea. When he saw Chen Yu, he was taken aback. "Why are you out?"

"My sentence is over," Chen Yu casually replied, surveying the lobby and noticing two other people in the room besides the duty police officer.

Both of these individuals were handcuffed, squatting in front of a radiator, watching the TV hanging in the lobby.

They were "criminal suspects" who had been arrested.

One had the title "Office Worker" above their head.

The others also had the title "Office Worker" above their heads.

Chen Yu scratched his chin, walked closer to the two people, and squatted down in the same posture, raising his head to watch the TV.

Seeing that it was the Chenggua TV station, he picked up the remote control and switched to the local Qingcheng TV channel.

"Chenggua TV, not worth watching," Chen Yu said.

The two "criminal suspects" next to him glanced at each other, then collectively scrutinized Chen Yu several times, without saying a word.

Changing his squatting posture, Chen Yu realized that it wasn't time for the news replay yet. He turned to the two individuals and struck up a conversation, "Hey, how did you guys end up here?"

Out of the two, the slightly shorter office worker immediately responded, with an aggressive temperament, pointing at the man next to him and cursing, "He's a rapist! Huh! He's too ashamed to admit it. Trash."

"A rapist?" Chen Yu was startled, then pursed his lips. "He's indeed a scumbag. Disgusting."

"Who says he's not? His parents raised him, changed his diapers, and brought him up while enduring hardships. Did they raise him to do this? Fuck, he's disgraced our ancestors, useless trash." The short office worker grumbled, venting his anger. He wanted to distance himself from the other person but couldn't escape because they were both tied to the same radiator.

He could only kick the other person angrily.

The other person staggered from the kick, shrinking their head in fear, not daring to make a sound.

"That's right, kick him hard." Chen Yu spat on the ground and then asked, "And you, how did you end up here?"

"Oh, me? I'm the victim," the short office worker replied.

Chen Yu: "..."

The short office worker added, "Now we're accomplices."

Chen Yu: "..."
