Before the questions that swirled around in Ivy's head could form into words, Cilian's fingers wrapped around her wrist.
"We need to talk." His breath was heavy as his shoulders rose and fell at an accelerated pace. Ivy could see the sweat forming on the back of neck, faintly staining the collar of his white shirt.
"Wait a minute-" She ripped her hand from his grip, "You remember everything, don't you?"
She asked, but the end of her sentence lacked an inflection. She knew.
Cilian swallowed thickly, his eyes falling to the ground for a moment. "We shouldn't talk here."
He tilted his head towards the same willow tree she had just come from. Ivy's stance tensed before following.
"Alright, explain all this." The girl insisted, crossing her arms over her chest. She knew that Cilian being here and remembering the past meant that everything leading up to this point had really happened-- Including her death. Ivy gritted her teeth from the mere thought of it. The only explanation then is…they somehow ended up back in time.
"Listen, I'm just as confused as you are." Cilian finally said. He shrugged while holding his hands up in the hair. "One minute we were in that warehouse, and the next I wake up here on some bench."
Ivy felt a cold chill run down her spine.
"That's basically the same for me." She whispered.
Cilian let out a heavy groan as his shoulders slumped. "When I asked some people nearby, they told me it was 2015. I didn't believe them so I tried to look for people I knew. That's when…I ran into you."
Ivy let out a weak chuckle before moving her hands to outline her torso. "Must be true."
She then lifted her gaze and allowed herself to fully take in Cilian's features. His raven black hair is shorter now than in the future, hanging just over his forehead. Piercings cover the outer shell of his left ear while his face appears more full with smooth skin. Even his earthy brown eyes flickered with light in them.
"You even look younger."
Cilian seemed a little startled by this as he blinked. "Really?" He squinted a bit while leaning down, lessening the height difference between them.
"You do, too."
Ivy unfolded her arms with a heavy sigh. Her head had begun to hurt from trying to understand all this. And deep down, a part of her wondered if she even cared. There was nothing to go back to but a painful death and empty life. Anything good that could have possibly happened was taken away by her brother's selfishness. Ivy scoffed.
Perhaps the gods had taken pity on her and offered a second chance.
Ivy took in a deep inhale. Then exhaled, releasing all the questions from her mind.
"Well, I'm going."
Ivy spun on her heels and walked away from Cilian and the school's front doors.
"Hey! Where are you going?" He called out. Ivy stopped, but didn't turn. A familiar anger coursed through her veins. She touched over her side where the bullet wound once was. She could feel it still tingling.
"Where else? To find my snake of my brother."
