Capricious or Play it by Ear

The assassin and Rosseaulyn arrived at the front of a unit. Rosseaulyn, maintaining her combat stance, held the M79 Sawed Off with a determined grip. The assassin, sensing her readiness, cooperated and approached the door, knocking on it.

"Knock knock! Princess! Are you in there?!" The assassin asked.

"Who is it?!" A lady replied.

"It's me! The skinny man! Hahahahaha!!"

"Yeah, I heard your disgusting laugh! Just come in!"

"Officer! Come on in! The one you are looking for is inside here…"

"You get inside first! I will fix my eyes on you, don't try to do something stupid." Rosseaulyn warned.

"Aiyee… So scary… I'm not prepared to die at this place…" The assassin teased.

Rosseaulyn stared at the assassin fiercely, proceeding with extra caution. Upon entering the unit, the daughter of the President sat casually on the sofa, engrossed in watching the TV news. Rosseaulyn was momentarily speechless, perplexed by the unexpected situation.

"Skinny Man! You are still alive!? Unbelievable! You are indeed a formidable fighter!" The daughter of the President exclaimed.

"Yeah, Princess! As I told you! I always keep my promise! Don't forget that I'm an honest man! Just like what your father said in front of the people."

"Nah! He's a big liar! Everyone got cheated!"

"Hahahahaha!! What a rebellious child! I wonder what he will be thinking if he heard about this!"

"Hey! Who is that tall woman behind you? Is she a soldier too?"

"Yeah! She threatened me to bring her here… I have no choice!"

"Wait a second… I think I saw her somewhere before... Oh! Rosseaulyn Winton! The new savior of Luthernza. What are you doing here, officer? You are not joining the battle?"

"I'm just trying to look for you! Did this bastard cause any harm to you?!" Rosseaulyn asked.

"He was tough when he took me away from the broadcast agency! But I didn't get hurt, and after I told him that I'm the daughter of the President, he treated me fine like right now."

"I'm glad that you're fine! Let's quickly get out of here right now!"

"I can't go with you right now! I must keep staying here!"

"Wait… What!?"

"Officer! You heard that yourself! She wishes to stay here by herself! I never force her to stay! I even leave the door unlocked all the time for her! Hahahahaha!!"

"Must be you who forced her to say so!"

"Stop blaming me blindly! Will you?" The assassin argued back, a hint of irritation on his face.

"How am I going to trust a murderer and a kidnapper?!"

"My intention is to initiate a war and help the people here to get rid of the control of the military! She is just nothing but a lure! It just happens that she is the daughter of the President."

"Both of you, stop arguing! I decided to stay here! It's none of this skinny man's business. You, as a savior, should know what is right and wrong… I'm doing my best to reveal the truth to the people of Kothern!"

"I really don't understand what you are saying… My primary concern is your safety right now!"

"No worry, savior! I know when the right time is to retreat and run for my life. I believe you have more important things to do rather than having a chat with me here."

"Please tell me what's the thing you are doing that you are even willing to risk your life."

"To save innocent people from a corrupted government."

"Huh?!"

"I am gathering as much evidence as I can to prove that the government led by my father is full of lies and is even harming the people!"

"This is a little bit confusing right now…"

"Sighed… Do I need to really say this… I hate my father… I want to drag him down from the chair of President. Is that clear to you? Please leave me alone; I'm just an ordinary person, and there's nothing special about me. If you really care about my life, I suggest you save the other lives instead of wasting your time here."

"I actually…"

While Rosseaulyn was trying to explain her actions in the slum, they were all interrupted by someone who suddenly broke into their unit through the sealed glass window. The glass window shattered apart, and the person who broke in was Ayukawa. She stood up and shook her head repeatedly to get rid of the glass pieces.

"Phew! The glass window was more solid than I thought…" Ayukawa muttered.

"Who… Who the hell are you?! You just broke in through the glass so easily and appeared like nothing happened at all…" The daughter of the President exclaimed.

"I heard three voices from down there… One is a teenage girl. Second is someone I am familiar with… The third voice… Someone I would not hesitate to take his life…" Ayukawa replied, fixing her sharp gaze on the assassin.

"Wohohoo! This is exciting! I never thought I could see you again, honestly. Hahahahaha!!"

"Me too, pale-looking corpse! Yahahahaha!" Ayukawa replied while laughing strangely.

"What an unnatural laugh... Don't force yourself anyway. Are you looking for me?" The assassin teased.

"Not really, I am helping some police guys down there to evacuate the people. I heard some voices from this building, so I just came here to take a look. Hey, Rosseaulyn! I heard that you are the one who is behind all this evacuation plan!"

"I believe this is the first time I heard you call my name... Anyway, I'm so glad that you are willing to assist us!"

"You want me to witness those innocents just getting killed in front of me while I do nothing?! I don't think I can do it!"

While they were having a conversation, the policemen also arrived at the unit. Their faces showed shortness of breath as they have been running around to save as many lives as possible.

"Lieutenant Winton! You're here too!" The policemen exclaimed.

"Yep, how's everything going?"

"Very well! This is the last building we need to evacuate the people, but it seems like nobody is here except this unit."

"Great jobs, guys!"

"Actually, it's all thanks to the violet-haired lady over there! She helped us a lot and managed to get everyone in the centre south evacuated! She demonstrated a lot of moves that physics can't define…"

"Ms. Ayukawa, once again, thanks for your help!"

"Just stop it… You still got a lot of work to do," Ayukawa reminded.

"Erm, Lieutenant! The guy over there! Isn't he the one who… Oh! The daughter of the President is here too! What the hell is going on?!"

"Guys, just leave the rest to me! I will need your help to evacuate the people on the east side right now!" Rosseaulyn ordered.

"Got it, Lieutenant…" The policemen noted and left to continue their job.

After the policemen left the unit, the whole room was filled with silence, and the atmosphere grew more intense as each of them stared sharply at each other. The daughter of the President immediately broke the silence and began expressing her admiration for Rosseaulyn.

"Hey Saviour! I can't believe that you've made such a huge contribution to the people!!"

"Huh!?" Rosseaulyn puzzled.

"You just saved so many people here! I am deeply sorry for my arrogant attitude just now because I thought you were one of those mindless soldiers. Clearly, you are the special one in the military and a true savior!"

"Thanks for the compliment, but I'm just doing my job, and there's nothing special about it. It's my duty to take care of the safety of people, after all."

"Sadly, my father wouldn't think of it, and he is even the President of Kothern! Shame on him!"

"You said you hate your father, and you are planning to oust your father from the presidency?!"

"Yeah, as I told you, I HATE him! Right now, I have met the real savior of Kothern… I think I need your help in the future!"

"My help…?"

"Yes! I want to be the President of Kothern! I want to rebuild this country and free it from corruption! I'm not kidding; I am very serious. I also need my own army; otherwise, nobody will listen to me."

"Well… Sounds like you are going to rule by force…"

"Yeah! But in a good way. I don't think now is the right time to discuss this… Skinny man, you too! You are going to join me as well!"

"Hahahahaha!! Sorry, Princess, I…" The assassin got interrupted.

"You don't have to reject my invitation for now! Just wait until the day I send you the invitation."

"Interesting!"

"Missy! Hold on! May I know what your age is right now?" Rosseaulyn asked.

"Twenty-one! By the way, just call me Angelina! You there! The violet-haired lady! I heard the police just praised how capable you are… You are going to join me for sure!"

"Hmm… Joining the military?! No way! I'm not interested in your game!"

"As I said, you all don't have to reject my offer first! By the way, I can sense that three of you are holding a grudge against each other. Please don't initiate a fight here! I'm still waiting for my cameraman!"

"Cameraman...?"

"I have no time to waste on fighting with the walking corpse!" Ayukawa declared.

"So am I! Your unexpected presence has made my schedule tighter! The assassin added.

"Mr. Assassin! I am not done with you yet! Ms. Ayukawa, he not only hurt you before, but he also has killed Ms. Yele—"

"WOAHH!! WAIT A SECOND! I HAVE TOLD YOU IT'S NOT ME!" The assassin argued back panicky.

"Rosseaulyn! What did you just say?!!" Ayukawa asked with an extremely serious face.

"Ms. Ayukawa… Ms. Yeleona… She has died… She was killed by the tank…" Rosseaulyn said, with a tear dropping from her eyes.

"Cannot be! She's staying in your house, isn't?!!"

"I have reminded them to stay there, but they returned here to check on you and wanted to take something from their houses…"

"How about Carmella?!"

"She's fine."

"Darn it… SCUMBAGGGGG!!!" Ayukawa roared.

"He's the one who initiated all this stupid battle! I will make him pay! Mr. Assassin! Tell me what happened on that night! How did Captain Raynolds die?!! I will finish you after you tell me, and I will make you pay for her life!"

"YOU BASTARDDD!!!" Ayukawa shouted and went to strangle the assassin with all her strength.

"Cough… Oh… Come on! Just listen… what have you said! It's very clear and obvious that… Dialla is the one you should seek revenge for! Did you two hear me?! It's Dialla! D-I-A-L-L-A! DIALLA!" The assassin was losing his breath while he was trying to explain.

"Don't try to change the topic, walking corpse! Where's my dagger?! You are taking it with you, aren't you?! Return it to me at once and I will give your throat a nightmare cut that is only full of pain!"

"Your dagger… Is with me! But I can't return it to you yet! Let's... Make a deal! If you help me out… Then… I will return the dagger to you! Same to you… officer! If you help me out, I will tell you… What happened on that night!"

"I have no time for your NONSENSE! Just return my dagger at once! Or I will tear your throat apart with my bare hands!!"

"Wait! I just want… Two of you… To help me against Dialla…"

"You should help yourself right now!"

"Making a silly deal with you just to exchange for the information that I want, and it also means I have to let you live… I don't think it's worth!" Rosseaulyn added.

"Hey officer! Dialla is not only your enemy… but mine too… He just killed your beloved comrade! And you! Ayukawa right? Dialla is the one… Who hired me to kill you! He's your enemy too!"

"I will finish you first and Dialla will be next!" Ayukawa shouted.

"HOLD ON! I can't die here yet! If I die, all the people… Who is fighting Dialla's troops… They will die! They need my lead! There's no way… They can deal with such great military… With those scraps weapon… From the police forces!"

"Are you begging or threatening us?!" Rosseaulyn asked.

"I'm trying to persuade… two of you to join us against Dialla! I just underestimated his forces… We will lose to them in any second now! You two monsters… Sure can help the people… in the slum to get victorious!!

"Ms Ayukawa, I hate to say this but he's right somehow…"

"I understand the situation as well! I just really get pissed at him! I really want to tear him apart right now!"

"Easy… Just calm down first… Let's have a quick discussion… Shall we?" The assassin proposed.
