There was once a prince he had everything he would need, loving family, caring and rowdy siblings but what he wanted was the throne. The fight for it was brutal and there were few in his favour, he had lost by a landslide it was as if he wasn't in the war to begin with.
During his lowest moment their mother Lilith set him up with a partner for the annual battle between each prince and their warrior.
He had none or to be more specific no one had accepted his invitation so his mother sent one for him but he didn't trust her to send someone capable after all her favorite son was already on the throne.
He waited dressed in green and gold, the pride emblem on the right chest of his coat, it held a black silk shawl in place which went over his shoulder, around his back and draped over his left forearm. Gold bracelets with green stones and his long white hair had gold accessories clipped on. He wore healed shoes and waited inside his mansion for the one to arrive. He couldn't refuse as he'd hear a number of words from Mother Lilith.
That's when she arrived on the back of one of Inferno's most powerful and hard to tame Hell Beast the Fiery Rage. It's name came from the tips of his fur turning a bright red when in battle. It's gold eyes locked on to the prince as it landed sending a wave of strong winds making the princess hair flutter in the wind.
The woman easily slid off its back on to the floor, her jewelery chimed as it clanged against eachother. She wore silver chest amour under which she wore black skirt with slits on both ends. She wore flat shoes, her green skin laced with black tattoos one on her right bicep was the Wrath emblem. She wore black gloves with her hair tied back.
She knelt before him "My Prince, I apologize for being late. I had to make sure my Beast was suitable for the royal battle and the prince that would ride him. My name is Azura of Wrath"
She had indeed dress the beast, it wore a gold head piece. A chest plate with green jewls that matched the Prince's signature colour. His four paws had gold cuffs, on it's back was a saddle to match.
"I see, you may stand. Let's not waste any more time."
"Let me help you." She said she stepped closer to him swiftly and put her arm around his waist pulling him close.
"Hey!! Let me down you low leve-"
"I apologize my Prince, but Razor isn't the most friendly neither does he like anyone other than me near him if I don't hold you close he won't relax."
He looked at the beas who was looking at him with all four eyes pupils slit watching him. He knew that about the beast, they were cautious indeed. She guided him closer and he beasts large head lowered close to the Prince's face, soft sound of sniffling followed by the beast laying down so they could get up on him. She let go of his waist and got up on the beast first before pulling him up with ease.
"Razor (fingers snap twice), to the Castel nice and slow."
"Slow? I'm not made of glass, is that why she sent you? To insult me?"
"Insult? All I'm doing is making sure the effort into your attires and hair doesn't go to waste."
"Is that so? Then did she send you to spy one me?"
"Spy? Is that why your so guarded?"
She looked over her shoulder with eyes full of emotions he couldn't understand.
"If you wish for anything you must simply command it. I will do what ever it takes to fulfill it." She continued
"At any cost? Don't promise things you can't do."
"How about a deal then?"
"A deal? Intresting and what could YOU probably give me?"
"My essence, the Wrath stone."
She could see the way his eyes lit up, a demon's Essence was the stone embedded inside their chest. It held all their power it was capable of making anyone that possessed the stone held power over the Demon and that demon did what ever it was ordered to do.
"Alright and what do you want?"
"I'll think about it after I win."
"So confident are you?"
"Very, now what do you want me do do?"
"At this party there will be many that look down on me, I know many will try to attack and challenge my position as prince of Wrath. You will be my shield and sword, all you have to do is not lose to win our deal. If you loose even one round I'll win."
"That's it? Alright then...I don't suppose you've herd of me before today, right?"
"Are you someone important enough for me to remember?"
"So you haven't well I'm sure you'll regret this this my Prince."
"I won't."
That single bet was one of many thing's that changed everything, he grew to love her so much. He should have trusted her, he should have stood by her.
---A Century Later---
With tears in his eyes and regret in his heart he waited his end. She haunted him everyday, the sight of her death, the memory of the very moment he betrayed her. The look in her eyes just before it all ended...there was not a single second he didn't think of it.
It was never supposed to be this way, she was met to be by his side as his equal. Yet here they are standing across from each other once more but instead of a slow dance lost in each other's presence they now stood weapons raised against each other, inside the very Castel he built for her to make happy memories in, surrounded by the stench of blood and war cries. It was finally time to face both the woman he loved and the one he hurt the most.
"Did you have fun my love? Does it feel good, getting revenge?" He asked her as he watched her walk through the huge doors of the throne room, covered in blood.
Her red eye that once looked at him with such unconditional and infinite love were now replaced with a different emotion.
"Of course not, nothing makes me feel the way you do...Any last wishes my love?" She asked scythe pointed at him with a toothy grin on her face.
The full moon was the only light in the room, the soft dim light falling on her green skin, making the strands of white in her dark green hair shine. She looked beautiful even when stained with blood. He once raised his sword at her but he couldn't do it again, he dropped his sword the very one she had made for him specifically. It made a clanking sound as it hit the floor.
"Just once, Will you dance with me again like we did before?"
"Oh my don't you think that's too much after everything?" Tho she still grinned he could tell his words annoyed her.
"A wish from a dying lover to the one he loves."
"Didn't you love me when you killed me...I guess your answer doesn't make much of a difference now."
"I'm sorry."
"Sorry isn't enough. However I'll indulge you." She let go of her scythe it floated in place as she walked ahead.
The two meeting in the middle, once a joyful location where they sparred and danced, they talked for hours and loved for days.
"I... I'm sorry and I wish it could have been different for us. Maybe in another lifetime, we'd have a happy ending. I always love you Azura. In this life and the ones to follow, I will always love you as I do now."
She placed her hand in his a familiar feeling in his eyes and a distant memory for her. While they danced to no song and silence settled as they once more forgot the world around them he spoke.
"Do you hate me? You have every right to."
"I did...in the beginning."
The hope in his eyes was crushed soon.
"But it died along with the love I felt. Truthfully after I calmed down I realized tho your betrayal was in line with demon nature for a Prince of Pride to bow to the enemy was unacceptable."
"I'm not worth anything to you anymore am I?" Heartbreak clear in his eyes and tone.
She leaned in closer to him lips hovering on his hand caressed his cheek and she wispered into his ear.
"Your not even worth the blade on my wepon let alone my hand for this dance. Consider this my last mercy." She let go of him and put her hand out to her side, the scythe flying into her hands.
He knelt on the floor looking at her pitifully, the blade of her scythe touching his neck, he smiled at her tears in his eyes. He pulled a necklace off his neck and tossed it to her feet, making the pendants clink on the floor by her feet.
Rings...their rings.
"Be safe and be happy I'll miss you My Phoenix."
Her scythe cut his head clean off his shoulders, a smile on his face and tears down his shut eyes. Azura picked up the chain 'What a bastard, how dare he keep them after all he'd done' She thought jaw clenching in anger. She looked to where the body lay and knelt down next to it.
The body of the once Great warrior prince had now fallen so miserably and laid in a pool of black blood that swallowed the pure white tiles. She looked down at the head and reached out to lift it off the floor. As the blood dripped down her arms from the head in her hands, she caressed the cheek of the dead man, a bitter-sweet expression on her face as she looked over the features of his face.
'Even in another life, I hope you die miserably, you wretchedly beautiful man.' She thought bitterly.
Wiping the tears from her own face, unsure if it was the relief of finally getting revenge or the pain of killing someone she had deeply loved before, she found herself wondering if he had felt the same when he killed her. Sighing as she walked towards the balcony knowing those thoughts ment nothing anymore.
'It's all over now I've finally done it.'
She thought to herself, pushing the door to the balcony open. She could see the entrance of the Castel where the war continued and stood behind the balustrade that had beautiful flowers that started to wilt away as the King was now dead.
She held his head over the edge and banged the metal base of the snath on the tiles, getting everyone's attention towards the balcony. A silence was followed by roars from the rebellion, the war ended just like that. A new King Of Inferno was crowned, there were weeks of celebration before the coronation of the new king.
Azura was asked to be the King's partner, but she declined immediately. She'd done it once before, never again would she involve herself in the world of kings and politics. The king understood after all Azura had done more than she had to, it was time for rest and healing. She attended the party, young demons and old approaching her and sweet talking her, a new age with the same old tricks. She sneaked off out of the main hall, finding an empty balcony that faces the dark forest, taking a deep breath she leaned on the marble top forearms supporting her weight. The crisp cold wind blew ever so softly, for now, the entire universe seemed peaceful.
The rage in her heart finally settled. Finally, she'd return to her place away from the insufferable crowd that followed her, some like loyal pets and others like snakes waiting to sink their fangs into her. She'd like to see them try but every fiber of her existence had enough of all the chasing and loving, the planning and execution. Making backup plans and predicting for assurance in case things went wrong. Truly she'd had enough of drama in her life.
"Finally alone?"
"Not now that you're here."
"You love my company."
"I do, it's why I'm still at this insufferable party waiting for you."
Azura hadn't felt love in a long time nor a sense of friendship but if anyone was important to her now it was the man before her, Evrin. A rather large man for being an incubus. He walked to stand by her side leaning the same way she did.
"Hey, Evrin?"
"Yes?"
"Wanna run away with me?"
Evrin's head turned to look at her so fast that Azura swore could have snapped and fallen right off the balcony.
"Are you serious?! Is this one of your jokes again? I do-"
"I'm serious, just us on an island."
"For how long? and where?"
"A couple of years...maybe a decade? You can leave whenever you wish to and as for where, well to be honest I'm not too sure my self."
"...my sisters and brothers won't be too happy."
"Oh yea that's right, I am stealing their princess after all."
"This princess will gladly run away with you. They'll be fine...eventually." Evrin got closer to Azura, foreheads pressed together. It meant more to them than any kiss would have.
They retired peacefully to an island and Azura cursed the waters around it to kill anyone or anything that approached the Island with the wrong intentions.
Well to be more accurate Azura broke into Evrin's family Mansion and carried him along with his things, jumped through portals, and stole a boat to crash into an island filled with all sorts of low and high-ranking demonic beasts.
At least the two finally got their long awaited vacation.
