Bye Bye Becca

"Really? Oh, thank goodness!" Mrs. Hudson collapsed into a nearby chair with a hand over her heart when she heard the doctor say Aiden woke up and was alright. The relief and gratefulness was followed by exhaustion. She had been so tense and worried that all her energy was sucked out. Mr. Hudson stood next to her holding on to her shoulders.

Similarly, Yuki and Isaac both collapsed into chairs as well. Mikael had no clue how to help as Yuki continued to cry and Silas went over to check on Isaac.

"You alright there?"

"...Yes. I'm fine now." Isaac sighed and slumped back in the seat, closing his eyes. Silas chuckled while sitting down in the seat next to him.

"You know, when you told me about your son, you didn't mention he was currently living with my son because of his aunt."

"I wasn't sure how you'd take it. I didn't want your advice to be biased."

"Wha?! Come on, do I really seem like the type to do that? Anyway, you still have to tell him, especially now."

"Hah…I know." Isaac opened his eyes and suddenly stood up causing Silas to look in the same direction as him. William and Derek were walking towards them and neither of them looked happy. Silas had a bad feeling about it and also stood up.

When the two of them reached the waiting room, William walked straight over to his assistant and started whispering so no one else would hear what he was saying. Derek had a scowl on his face as he crossed his arms and leaned angrily against the nearby wall. Nobody had the courage to approach and ask him what was wrong.

After William's assistant hurried out of the room, William turned to Derek and nodded. Derek stood up straight and walked over to where Lyla, Spencer, and Becca were sitting. He peered down at Becca with a cold and murderous aura around him.

"Care to admit what you've done now or are you going to pretend to be innocent?" Lyla jumped up.

"What are you saying? Don't speak to my daughter that way!"

"Shut up." Lyla flinched. The rage Derek had been feeling ever since he found out what happened was radiating off him in waves. The entire room became tense but Becca acted as if she had no clue what he was talking about.

"Huh? What's with you?" Becca asked. Just then, William's assistant came back followed by two detectives. Derek stepped back.

"Fine. Then let's see what they think." As he walked over to the detectives and took out a cell phone from his pocket, Becca started feeling a little nervous. She was positive that there wasn't anything that could tie her to what happened but it felt like Derek definitely knew something. It didn't seem like a bluff to lure her into admitting something he just suspected.

Becca crossed her arms and unknowingly started biting her nails. She kept trying to convince herself that it didn't matter what they thought because they wouldn't be able to prove anything. She didn't do anything wrong. She never told that idiot to blow up the damn mountain. That was all on him.

A short time later, the detectives walked over to Becca.

"Becca Winters, you'll need to come with us." One of the detectives motioned towards the door.

"What do you want with my daughter? You're not taking her anywhere! What's this all about?" Lyla held onto Becca's shoulders. The second detective stepped forward to explain.

"Ma'am, she's being taken in for questioning one way or another. You're free to come along but she still has to come with us. You wouldn't want to make this more difficult, would you?" Lyla, Spencer and Becca wound up leaving the hospital with the detectives. Derek watched them leave and William explained the situation to everyone else present.

Their faces all reflected feelings of shock and anger while they listened to what they had found out. Mrs. Hudson and Yuki both had more tears in their eyes while Mr. Hudson and Mikael did their best to try and comfort them. Isaac was lost as to what he felt. Of course he was angry and shocked but he also felt sad and guilty. There was an inexplicable weight that seemed to settle on his heart and in the pit of his stomach. He felt sick.

Just what had Aiden been forced to endure while living with his aunt? His cousin had almost caused his death and didn't even look the least bit sorry. What else had those people done to Aiden? On one hand, Isaac desperately wanted to know so he could try and get Aiden some sort of compensation for his suffering but, on the hand, he wasn't sure if he could handle knowing the truth.

For a while, everyone sat in silence but it was interrupted by Mikael.

"Alright, it's time to go home." He pulled Yuki up from the chair but Yuki didn't want to leave and tried to argue.

"But I…!"

"You can come back and see him later. Right now, you need to sleep." Yuki wanted to argue but he knew Mikael was right. Not only was Yuki extremely tired but he had also cried so much that his eyes were swollen. Mr. Hudson also stood up and held Mrs. Hudson's hand to help her up.

"You too." He told her. She just silently nodded and stood up.

"I'll be heading out as well." William stated as his assistant left to bring the car around. That left Derek, Isaac, and Silas as Zeke and Ava had left just after learning that Aiden woke up. Isaac couldn't stand just sitting there so he said,

"I'm going to make a call and find out what's happening to the ones responsible for this." Then, he too left the room. Silas went over and sat down next to Derek.

"So, how long do you plan to stay?" He asked.

"I'm staying the night." Silas didn't look surprised. In fact, he was expecting it. He knew his son wasn't the type to get close to people. Excluding himself and Cameron, the number of people Derek could be considered close to could be counted on one hand. Silas didn't know why Derek had gotten so attached to Aiden but it didn't matter anymore. Aiden was as good as family.

Some time later, Isaac came back with an angry expression and cursed as he sat down.

"Damn it!" Silas and Derek could guess what his reaction meant so Silas confirmed it.

"Let me guess, the police won't charge the girl."

"No, they won't. Apparently, there's nothing that proves what she did other than that recording which can't be used legally against her. They said something about 'inadmissible hearsay'. The only one who could be held accountable is the man who set off the grenade but they're still tracking him down."

"So, what? We're just supposed to sit back while she lives under the same roof as Aiden? Who knows when she'll try something again?"

"She won't be living anywhere near Aiden from now on." Both Isaac and Silas stared at Derek, waiting for him to continue. "She'll be sent to an all girls boarding school on the other side of the country. I'll contact them first thing in the morning. Once she graduates, she's on her own."

"With that personality, her mother isn't likely to let that happen," Silas pointed out.

"She doesn't have a choice. There was a clause in the contracts they signed that basically stated if they did anything illegal or dangerous I would have full authority to do whatever I see fit. They should have read it carefully before they signed but now it's too late. She'll be on a plane in three days whether she likes it or not."

"Well, at least that's something." Isaac sighed. "Although. It would be better if we could ship all of them across the country."

Soon, a nurse went over to them and told them that visiting hours were ending. As Derek left to go back to Aiden's room and set up a temporary bed for himself, Silas's stomach grumbled loudly. Isaac raised both his eyebrows.

"Ha ha! I forgot to eat with everything that was going on. Oops! Come on, let's go get something to eat. It's on me." With that, Silas dragged Isaac out of the hospital.

Isaac had no choice but to go but he would definitely go back to see Aiden in the morning. He didn't know what he was going to say but he had to tell him that they were father and son. Isaac thought nonstop about how Aiden would react and how he should go about bringing up the subject while eating dinner with Silas. He was so distracted that the food on his fork fell off back onto his plate. He was probably going to end up with indigestion before the night was through.
