Chapter fifteen

The five ladies and the gentleman walked between tall green bamboos growing in a row. Just a few breaths, they got out of the blue cover, and arrived at another new green scenery.

"A lot of vegetables," Lifen yelled, then turned to the male guide, "Does this farm belong to Wu too?"

"Yes." Longwei wagged. "Eldest mother likes farming. At house does not have enough space, so she makes a farm here."

"Is it for sale?"

"No, it's not. It's for family only."

"Good." Lifen waved her head. "What vegetables are there on the farm?"

"It has many. Cabbage, cucumber, bean, watermelon, and others."

"At home, I have bunnies. They like cabbage. Can I get some for them?"

"Sure."

"Thank you, young master Wu."

After saying it, she ran into gardening.

"Be careful," Liqing said and rushed to follow her teenage sister.

Seeing the presence of Yang's fifth young mistress in the farm, Lantian lifted her head and perceived Caihong and others were coming; however, she was not bothered, she returned her head to dive to pull the plants for her beloved old woman that was resting at home.

As the sun was going down to the West, the kids of the high minister and the millionaire went up the same carts to return to the central town.

In the leading carriage, Longwei, Lantian and Caihong remained in chairs like they had sat.

Staying in the carriage made the younger girl remember the event in the morning. Because she did not want to experience falling once more, she kept her fingers at the sill of the window strongly. This would hurt her body, so to get healthy back and waists, she decided to sit sideways.

Within such a pose, the high girl could perceive only half the face of the female junior. Lantian did not agree, she wanted to see the full feature of the colleen, hence she said to her brother, "Second brother. I am tired. Can I lean on you?"

"Of course," Longwei stated.

Quickly, the younger sister leaned her back against her elder man's arm and rose her left leg to put on the seat, while another leg was enlarged on the floor of the cart. Now, she was able to visit the Yang clan's flower full of eyes, but her glance caused inconvenience inside the mind of the younger lassie. However, the girly did not have another way besides telling herself to stand against the womanizer eyes of this elder female.

Before the sun set, the Yang young ladies were sent home safe and sound. But kids of Wu did not get in to pay respect; they hurriedly returned home – due to Wu Guang asking for a meeting with Longwei, and Lantian needed to hand the plants to her ma before they were dried.

"Mother, I've got you the vegetables."

"Did you go to bamboo grove?" Lady Chen said.

"Yes." Lantian wagged. "I went with brother. We took the daughters of master Yang to go out."

"How are Yang's young ladies?" Lady Mei said.

"So-so."

"Sister, do you want a daughter-in-law now?" Lady Chen asked.

The lips of lady Mei indicated smiling. "Longwei is twenty three now," she said.

"Right." Lady Chen wagged her head. "You are the mother of Longwei, you have to organize his future. Me too. I'll think about my Lantian."

Lantian quickly said, "I don't want."

"Son has to take wife, daughter has to take husband," lady Chen confirmed.

"I don't care, I don't want a husband."

"We are born as human, we have to get married, have kids, and have a family."

"Getting married is not fun. Having a kid, raising a kid is difficult. You have experience. Are you feeling easy to raise me? And having a family is so boring. Problem, dispute." Lantian shook her head. "No way."

"It is the law of nature. Humans have to have a partner."

"But there is no law saying that we have to have a partner as a man."

"Why do you say that?" Lady Chen tied eyebrows.

"I say the truth from my heart. I don't like men. Man is not good."

"You are holding negative ideas towards the man. All men are not the same."

"Correct. They are not the same. They have different shapes, heights, attitude, ideas; but one thing that they are the same; it is they are man. Man is not good, their heart is not loyal."

Lady Chen felt tired of discussing with daughter; however, she tried hard to convince her to change point of view.

"It is because you haven't met a good man yet," she said.

"Though he is the most handsome man in the world, the most highly educated man in the world, the most special man in the world, still I believe he does not have a sincere heart. He will not love only me. His heart will change when he sees a new girl. Father is a sample."

"He is your father. Why do you say this about him?"

"I said the truth. He promised second mother that he would not take another wife. Still he broke his words."

Hearing this, lady Mei dropped her face.

Lady Chen sensed her daughter's words influenced the feeling of lady Mei, she hurriedly blocked the unmanaged mouth of her girl, "Stop saying."

At that moment, lady Mei got up from seat and said, "Eldest sister, I have to go to check the soup that I am cooking for Longwei, so I take leave."

After telling, she withdrew her body, silently and dried face, out of the room.

"You." Gently, lady Chen pinched the arm of her daughter. "Your mouth has no cover."

Lantian made a sour face. She caressed where her mother had pinched her and spoke, "I did not have purpose."

Mother dropped her shoulders and blew very loudly. She was really not happy – due to the lips of her daughter that were pretty like flowers but usually ejected the stone and thorn.

Talking about lady Mei, she acknowledged that Lantian did not have intention to mean to her; however, she still had guilt inside her heart.

Lady Chen realized that lady Mei did not mind about her daughter, but she had to do something to apologize. Hence after dinner, she brought a bowl of dessert to her good sister.

"Third sister."

Lady Mei was surprised. "Eldest sister, haven't you gone to bed yet?" She said.

"I make a dessert for Lantian, and take the chance to bring a bowl for you."

Lady Mei smiled, "Thank you, eldest sister."

After putting sweets on the table, lady Chen took a chair and said, "Sister, I'm sorry instead of Lantian. Don't take into your mind what she said in the evening."

"Don't worry, eldest sister." Lady Mei smiled. "I am not angry or upset with her."

"I know you have a good mind." Lady Chen held the hand of her younger sister softly.

"Eldest sister…"

Lady Mei wanted to say something, but lady Chen could see what she wanted to talk about, so she cut in, "No need to say. I know it." The old lady let out a very long wind before she continued, "We have been living together for twenty five years, I know you well. Since you entered this family, you have been very patient. You are kind, you don't like to compete, you just want to live in peace. This is why master likes you. In that year, it's hard to explain. It is hard for second sister and also it is hard for you."

"Actually, the one that is meeting difficulty is you." Lady Mei put hand on her sister. "You are a person the master loves and a wife that is officially married to the master. You have helped master a lot; next, each of us come in, one by one, you never complain. Eldest sister, I'm sorry."

Lady Chen shivered her head while smiling over her lips. "Don't mention it anymore. We become family, it is fate. What we have to do now is to take care of our children," she said.

"You are right." Lady Mei wagged.

The pair of sisters expanded their lips at each other.

Outside, a piece of moon was rising over the roof. Her appearance was witnessed by the mistress of the house and seeing her made her miss the very content union that had happened in the past.

"Five years already," lady Chen said. "I don't know how second sister is living."

Both eldest and younger sister watched the small light of the moon, and thought of their sisterhood that was staying in a nearby location, but was like a thousand miles away.

In this period, not only the two old ladies, but also the one they were missing was looking at the natural visible object from the hill at North.

Through the door of the log, lady Si watched the piece of moon in the sky with in mind thinking about the past days that she and her eldest and younger sister had enjoyed the scene together.

Lady Si was the second wife of Wu Guang and she was mother of the first son, Wu Feng. Before, she was very close to lady Chen and lady Mei, but since she came to take care of her son, she did not contact the two sisters.

While the lady was drowning in former memory, aunt Li, who was her private maid, came up, "My lady."

"Yes?" Lady Si turned over.

"Medicine of young master is about to run out."

"Tomorrow, you tell Fengge to inform the main house."

"Yes, my lady."

"It's late, you go to bed."

"What about you?"

"I'll stay here for a little bit."

"Yes."

After the maid went to the bedroom, lady Si returned eyes to the lunar. Beauty of that in-high-sky-object was admirable, it brought the joyful memory inside mind, but at same time, it also reminded the old woman about the individual moment that she was having.

Second madame of Wu blew a very long breath.
