Sage stood out Luke's office and breathed in this was hard than she thought; maybe coming here was a mistake. As she turned to leave the office door opened reviling Luke.
"Sage, what are you doing here?" He opened the door wide for her to go in and locked the door. He walked to his office pantry and served them coffee and sat to listen.
"Uncle Luke I need your help," She received her cup of coffee and placed it on the table. Luke took the papers handed to him and looked at her,
"What do you want me to do?" Sage took time but said the truth.
"Since we move out," Luke nodded telling her to continue, "mom has been behaving weird, I don't know where she goes and comes back after a week."
"I also have something," He walked to his desk and retrieved a file and placed it on the table. "Don't get me wrong, I also missed your mom and asked someone to follow her… and got this file today, let's open it together." She looked at him and took the file opening it to reveal pictures of her mom.
In every picture she looked cautious as if she never wanted anyone knowing her where about. On top of that she carried a particular bag everywhere.
"That bag…" She pointed the bag looking at Luke, "She never lets anyone touch it." She arranged the pictures according to the time taken.
"This is the first time that we moved out after the massive fight." She remembered everything like it was yesterday. "That day Sally received a phone call and left, she came the following day so tried and never said anything."
Hearing that Luke could only clench his fist, he knew there was something wrong with her, she changed overnight. She always became furious for no reasons and came home late.
"I'll do this for you but you have to promise me something," He placed the document on his working desk.
"And what is it uncle," She took her coffee and chugged it down after all it was hers to drink.
"If anything goes wrong call me right away, okay." She nodded and walked out the door.
It was already night time when she walked in her house and found Sally and a random man sitting on the sofa flirting. This was so weird, she was very sure that Sally really love Luke what was she doing?
"OH, Sage you're here," Sally laughed wait was she drunk? "Come let me introduce you to James" She kissed the man making Sage nausea.
"Mom we need to talk, alone." She pulled her drunken mom on the side. "What the fuck are you doing? Who is that man mom?"
Her mom who couldn't stand still sat on the floor and scratched her head, "He's your new dad,"
"Are you crazy, Sally," This was it, how could she just bring a stranger in their house and say that the man was going to be her dad. She looked down and found that her mom had passed out; she could only carry her to her room.
"I don't Care how you two met, but you need to get the fuck out of here," Her face was soo obvious that she was displeased with him.
"Girl, that's not how you take to your dad," He ran his dirty mouth and brown teeth. He took a cigarette from his jacket lighting it up, "You'll have to get used to it,"
Sage spat down and cursed, never not even in a life time, "You should hit the road old man before I get mad…" she warned him. The man blew smoke and laughed showing his dirty teeth.
"Come here let me teach you a lesson," he ran toward her only to be sent back with a kick, he could only moan in pain on the floor.
"What happened to teaching me a lesson, you bastard?" She mocked and kicked him again. She grabbed his hair and pulled him out, "If I see you in this house again I'll cut your balls out." With that she locked the door with a bang.
