Detrick walked out the front door of the tavern with the large broad sword resting on his shoulder. 


Gull’s Cove was a mess. Obvious neglect had left the town in general disrepair. But beyond that, a number of buildings were on fire and two dead dragons lay in the town square. 


A large group of his friends from the town were gathered together with their backs to him. They hadn’t noticed him come out, too intent on the spectacle in front of them.


He could see waves of energy pulsing out of Vernon, the tavern keeper. The waves were directed at Daphne and Harminy.


The two demigods had assured him they could distract the possessed townspeople while Detrick and Sebastian found their sister.
