"You monster," she said. One of them, a woman in her mid-thirties, pointed her gun at me.
"Monster?" I repeated.
A small laugh escaped.
"Not bad,
But what about you, who intend to destroy another kingdom? Your actions will also impact the civilians, not just their military. Aren't you much worse than me?"
"We do it for Clockheart!"
Damn it, my laugh escaped without control upon hearing that, even though I wanted to appear more mysterious. "For Clockheart? Clockheart would be just fine without you attacking other kingdoms. What? To gain new energy? Then why did you replace your old energy source?
All of this is happening because of your greed. You're never satisfied. Just like the queen you serve."
I spread my hands.
At the same time, an explosion emerged from the Queen's ship, causing them to panic. However, none of them wanted to move while glancing at me.
"Do you see the result? It is you who brought this destruction; I am just the medium. If only you didn't intend to destroy other lives, I wouldn't have acted either," I said, although I was also startled by the earlier explosion.
I snapped my fingers to the rhythm of the music, stepping forward and twirling in front of them, putting on a performance that I'm sure made them consider me insane.
As the music switched to a pop genre, I focused more on dancing than on them, as they were currently frozen, unsure of what to do.
When I stomp my hands, a missile was created, launching and exploding not far from them.
They shouted to each other, running for cover while firing their weapons.
Right when the beat dropped, I leaped, spinning my body, deflecting each bullet in all directions.
The Rangers shouted, commanding each other to finish me off quickly.
But who would want to stick their head out in the middle of a bullet rain like this? Especially with the Mech in front continuously firing its weapons, of course the bullets would never end.
At the same time I landed, the Mech run out of ammunition completely.
The pilot kept pressing buttons, but nothing came out.
She looked at the man in front of him, who was flicking his fingers while approaching.
With each finger snap, cylindrical objects with semi-circular tips formed and then launched, detonating her friends.
She watched everything, frozen in place, unsure of what to do.
She never expected someone like this, someone who could no longer be called human.
The figure then jumped, landing in front of the Mech, and right when the beat dropped, he jumped back, pushing the Mech to shatter the window and fall down.
The flying ship could be seen slowly moving further, and further away.
The pilot closed her eyes, accepting her fate.
A wide smile formed on her beautiful face as she said, "He's truly sexy."
Suddenly, I felt a tickle along my neck, causing my dance to become a little disordered. I didn't know what it was, and I didn't want to feel it again.
I looked around, surveying the room that was no longer filled with life.
I walked towards the window, observing the Queen's ship, which was now inexplicably ablaze on one side.
As I jumped out, my Hoverboard carried me towards the next ship, but I stopped midway upon hearing someone shouting.
"Z! Z!!"
To my left, I saw Sheila, calling my name with a joyful smile.
She waved her hand, continuously calling my name, making me anxious for her safety.
I hurried over, stopping in front of the shattered glass window with a puzzled expression. "What are you doing? Don't you still have a mission inside?" I asked, not understanding.
Sheila shook her head quickly, climbed onto the window ledge, and suddenly jumped onto the Hoverboard. Luckily, I quickly embraced her hips; otherwise, she might have fallen off.
"I can't take it anymore. I'm sick of being in there. Take me, take me away, Z!"
"Whoa! Whoa! Calm down, Sheila. You sound like a hardcore fan."
"A fan?"
"People who are obsessed with someone or a group, whether it's because of their work or appearance," I explained while keeping an eye on the corridor ahead, ready in case any Rangers attacked.
"In that case, I'm your biggest fan!"
"How about being my closest friend?"
Sheila blushed upon hearing that.
She bit her lip, nodded softly, and screamed as the Hoverboard carried us to the ship behind.
"Are you ready?" I asked her.
"I'm ready."
We jumped in, shattering the glass, drawing everyone's attention. I didn't forget to create a protective barrier for Sheila, so she wouldn't get hurt.
The number of Rangers and Mechs inside was roughly the same as the previous ship. They immediately started firing their weapons, also being impatient.
"Do you want to have a dance?" I reached out my hand.
Sheila took it, and together we started dancing, facing the barrage of bullets. At first, Sheila seemed worried, especially when a bullet ricocheted not far from her face.
But as soon as I touched her cheek and gently lifted her chin to meet my gaze, her body relaxed. She moved to the rhythm of the music like a professional dancer.
She followed my movements, looking so elegant and captivating under the bright lights from the explosions behind us, just as the song entered the chorus. The soft thumping of the beat and the melody made me recall the times I danced in the Nightclub.
The song wasn't too fast but also not slow. It led our bodies to a beautiful unity of enchanting movements, pleasing to the eye.
But what surprised me the most was how effortlessly Sheila followed my body's movements, as if she had done it many times before.
Her sway, facial expressions, and gaze...
I'm sure any man would weaken at the sight of her.
"Aren't you also weak for her?"
What? Me?
It takes more than this to make me weak, Z.
Sheila spun around, facing forward, and moved gracefully with my hands on her hips.
As the beat dropped, I turned her towards me, wrapping my left arm around Sheila's waist, and together, we swayed.
Our eyes locked, searching for something that was now stirring in our hearts.
Right when the beat dropped again, I spun her forward, letting her twirl beautifully like a ballerina before pulling her back into an embrace, with her hands gently crawling up my neck.
I could feel the warmth from there, a warmth that made my body feel hot.
But quickly, I took back control of the situation, changing the music to something much more cheerful than seductive.
My heart was racing, and my breath became irregular as Z grinned widely under the tree.
Oh, be quiet.
"What? I didn't say anything," he replied cheerfully.
You know what I mean.
"Hehe..."
As the song changed, we refocused on finishing off the remaining Rangers.
Did you think we were just dancing without doing anything?
You're completely wrong, my friend.
Every time Sheila looks away, I create something, then draw her back into the dance. The spotlight replaced by explosions that make those pair of eyes even more contrasting and beautiful.
Somehow, I feel like Sheila belongs in the midst of a war.
"Did they just dance?" one of the Rangers asked while hiding behind the control panel.
"I don't know, man. I've never seen anything like that. But let me tell you, both of them look wow," his friend replied with a wide grin and a slightly flushed face.
"Should we join them? Our lives have been too boring, and seeing them makes me want to join in." The Ranger thought for a moment, then took a deep breath. "You know what? I'm joining."
"Wait, William!"
But the Ranger had already run forward, hoping to avoid stray bullets, and shouted, "I WANT TO JOIN!!"
I glanced towards the source of the voice and saw a young man, around eighteen years old, approaching with his rifle raised.
Initially, I wanted to kill him, but seeing the passion in his brown eyes, I created a barrier to keep him safe.
He ran closer, causing his short black hair to bounce up and down. "I... I want to join," he requested, gasping for breath.
"Do you know what that means? You'll be a traitor," I warned.
He flinched, hesitated for a moment, then lifted his head with a determined gaze. "I want to join. I'm sick of being in this lifeless group of Rangers. All they do is intimidate others, and I hate that. Seeing the two of you, I feel like my soul is set free. That's why I believe I'm better off with you."
"Not because of her?" I asked, referring to Sheila.
Sheila blushed, still gazing at Zent. She didn't expect him to be so protective of her.
The Ranger quickly shook his head. "Oh no! I wouldn't dare. I felt something completely new when I saw you both dancing amidst the gunfire and explosions... Why am I not dead?"
"Because I gave you protection," I replied.
"Oh.. So, does that mean I can join?"
I paused for a moment, intentionally making him anxious before finally nodding. "Before you shout, you must be able to dance like us. It doesn't have to be perfect, just follow your heart."
His eyes widened as if he had found a new hope. "I'll show you!"
Coincidentally, the song changed to an upbeat pop genre, and he started dancing in front of us like a street dancer.
At first, I just wanted to see if he could move at all, but who would have thought he could do backflips and splits.
I reflexively clapped my hands, joining him while holding onto Sheila.
I also created a disco ball above and some spotlights on the left and right.
"Ah! Goddamn it, I'm joining too!"
And suddenly, there were four Rangers dancing with us.
