Years ago, a young Aiden, lost and grieving after his parents’ car accident, sat huddled in the hospital gardens. A teardrop traced its way down his cheek as Scovia, her own heart heavy from her grandfather’s passing, approached the bench.

“You must have lost someone dear too,” Scovia began, her voice surprisingly steady. “But stay strong. There are still people who need you.”

Aiden looked up, his eyes red-rimmed. “It hurts so much,” he choked out.

Scovia, ever the pragmatist, reached into her pocket and pulled out a jade pendant. “Here,” she said, her voice soft. “This belonged to my grandfather. Maybe keeping it safe for me will give you strength, and if you no longer need it to comfort you , you can just return it to me “
