13 Tragedy 10

“Thank you, Your Grace. I will call the doctor at once to transfer them right away.”

“It is all right. Thereafter, we would move to the chapel for prayers.”

“It is all right, Your Grace.”

They stood up at once and walked to the chapel, while Mr. Ken Israel put a call across to Dr. Williams. While they were at the chapel, Dr. Williams carefully transferred the patients to the Center and informed him. Then, after the prayers at the chapel, they walked to the Center with the Archbishop, who prayed for the patients too before she returned to her office.

“Thank you, son. What would we have done at our age without you?”

Madam Jessica appreciated Ken as they settled down at the Surgical Center’s reception.

“Mother, it is the other way around. What would we have done without father and you? Especially when my wife was kidnapped.”

“Yes. You will tell me more about her kidnap.”

“That would not be a problem, especially the role you indirectly played in rescuing her.”

“Or when he was sacked by the General Manager.”

Dora added. Madam Jessica could not believe that anyone had the capability to sack Ken from the organization, she looked at them back and forth and exclaimed.

“Sacked?”

Now, Dr. Gerald Milestone, the Medical Director of the Center, had assigned two medical students to work with Dr. Williams.

“Dr. Williams, meet Mr. Cliff Wright and Miss Jennifer Girard. They are to assist you to ensure that the work would not be burdensome to you."

The doctor was delighted and appreciated the Medical Director for being thoughtful.

“Thank you, Dr. Milestone. You have made my work simple.”

Afterward, the two medical students, acquainted themselves again with Dr. Williams, and he discovered that Miss Jennifer Girard, was the nineteen years old daughter of the Archbishop and a medical student, who was there for her internship. When he was through with them, he walked up to Ken, who was sitting at the reception with his family, to hint him on the latest.

“That is good. Thank you, Dr. Williams. I trust you will do a good job.”

He commended as he set out to leave with his family.

“You can always count on me, Mr. Israel.”

Furthermore, they left for the Manor, elated after they were certain that the three patients were in safe hands. After a few minutes, Ahmed, and Ralf returned to the Manor too. Now, he could make use of his suite because he had achieved his aim of going to Toronto.

“Boss, I would like to have a word with you.”

He said when he gave the International Vice Chairman a call.

“It is all right. I will be with you shortly.”

Later, Ken excused himself from his wife and got to the first floor to meet him with the Lieutenant in his suite.

“Take a look at this video, boss.”

Now, Ken, who was more interested in the safety of the patients than the source of the attack, sat down on the couch. He collected Ahmed's device and watched the confessions of the suspects. When he saw the Head of the Works Department, he furrowed his brow and gave a dry smile.

“So, he can be this mean?”

He mumbled. Then, he looked at them and ordered.

“Get set. We are returning to the Industrial Area now. We will speak his language.”

“All right, boss.”

The International Vice Chairman, who had settled his family members, was in a right frame of mind to deal with any culprit. He walked out of Ahmed's suite and gave Mr. Ferguson, a call. He picked his call at once and greeted.

“Hello, Mr. Israel. It is wonderful to hear from you. How is Nigeria?”

“Good to hear from you, too. I'm in Toronto. I arrived this morning.”

“Wow! That is good. Welcome to Toronto.”

“Thank you. I would like you to broadcast the news of the collapsed building. Ask the media houses to air it as it is and discredits us accordingly. Are you with me?”

“I am with you, Mr. Israel.”

“Good. Display the pictures and video of the victims of the collapsed building, the attacked aircraft and when the victims were moved into another helicopter. You got it?”

“I got it, Mr. Israel.”

“That is good. I will hold a Press Conference by 2 pm. So, get your men ready.”

“Consider it done.”

'That was a quick one.'

Mr. Ferguson, who thought that the International Vice Chairman just arrived, mumbled after he cut the call. Then, he set out to execute the IVC's instructions accordingly. Afterward, Ken got to his mother's suite, and met his wife chatting with her.

“Mother, Dora, I am off to work. I have some urgent issues to attend to.”

The women concurred, walked him to the car park and watched him leave with his car.

“Be careful, hubby.”

“Be careful, son.”

“I will.”

The Lieutenant could not go with them because he had to keep his eyes on the Manor. Before they got to the Industrial Area, the news of the collapsed building at the island was aired on all the media houses as breaking news. As usual, the competitors of the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group gave the news the boost that the International Vice Chairman desired.

The netizens were not left behind. They condemned the act of negligence on the part of contractor. At that point, Mr. Alexander, the contractor who handled the Shelter Home Project, was smiling from ear to ear. He remembered how Mr. Israel gave him strict supervision when he handled the Shelter Home and the Surgical Center projects.

“Serves the International Vice Chairman right. If he had given me this project, the company would not have been in this mess.”

He said. At this point, the General Managers of all the branches across the globe were disorganized because the company had not encountered such damage both in structure and in integrity. Mr. Gabriel Johnson, of the Nigerian Branch, was calm, just like Dr. Promise Dike.
