The prob at Mayer's.

The message was alert as I turned to Sarah, flashing my phone in her face.

"I got to leave! Jessie needs my help." I forgot how much Sarah loathed the flat chest girl but I could not avoid answering the rescue call.

"So what?" Sarah retorted, "They have guards all over their mansion, CCTV and plenty of peasants workers, what's there that only you can save their princy princess?"

She was jealous if not angered, what had I done wrong?

"I have to leave, I will meet you back home." I fastened my trousers giving Sarah a look that everything would be fine but she snorted and turned to Lisa.

Showing me her back.

"Sarah...?" I began.

"Sarah please, I'm her tutor I promise I will be back as soon as possible. "

"Just leave if you want to leave." Sarah coldly answered as Lisa tried to persuade me to stay.

"Look August, you don't have to go, but I won't peck... Lest you think I'm interested in you." Lisa made me daze as I re-read the message.

No, I had to go. I wanted to save my job, of all things. I wasn't a dummy to forget that it was Mayer's money I was using to start the business.

"I'm going..." I said as Sarah looked at me in disbelief.

"If you go, never come back to me." She threatened but I blocked my ears and ran over calling for the Uber.

I had the Mayer address in mind from our last meeting, and with my great memory, despite Sarah's threat and kitty look that still hovered in my head, I arrived in front of the majestic castle.

*****

The huge metallic gate resembled that of Bruce Wayne in the Batman movie as a slim, albino walked up to ask what I wanted here.

"I'm here to see Jessie," I informed the Albino who snickered and asked who I was.

"My name is August, you can confirm from Miss Mayer." I tried to introduce myself as the Albino gateman laughed cruelly calling the gardener who happened to be passing by.

"This miserable dude claims to be Jessie's boyfriend kwa kwa kwa." His laughter was far more disgusting than a witch's.

"Hey boy, you better leave. I fear your young girlfriend can't be your's anymore." the gardener said looking straight into my face, "Or else you might die."

Was he threatening me? I pulled out my phone and made a quick call to Miss Mayer but the lady hung up even before it went through. I tried a second time and my call got canceled again.

The gardener had left leaving me for the albino who mocked me, saying I was not worthy to be Jessie's boyfriend.

Ting! Ting!

My phone beeped with a new message as I quickly opened the mailbox to read.

[ My man is coming over to get you in, please don't leave. ]

I smiled at the text as the albino started threatening to get the guards to beat me away from the gates. I chose to remain silent since the albino wouldn't stop venting his rage on me.

After ten minutes or so, I saw the muscular man coming, his walk, height, and appearance from afar made me mistake him for someone.

'Was that Max?' I wondered as the messenger walked up the gate and smiled at me before pressing a button to open the gate.

"Max?" I wondered as I confirmed my speculation.

The Albino remained silent, after apologizing to Max for being rude to me.

"Apologize to Mr August!" Max ordered the Albino who immediately bowed before me, and went down on his knees begging for forgiveness.

"I'm so sorry I didn't know, please have mercy on me."

I wasn't used to this behavior, so I caught the man who had grown pale and pulled him up as I proved to him that I was alright. I didn't mind him, it was my fault, after all, I should have dressed expensively.

Now my mind ran back to Max who visibly had authority over the workers around here. I heard him insult the Albino as he sent him to slash the grass growing tall at the other end of the wall.

"Max?" I repeated as the man looked at me condescendingly

"What?" He responded coldly ignoring my haze as he guided me back to the mansion through the Lillie maze that covered the front.

"You work here?" I asked as Max gave me a cold glare, ignoring my puzzlement to guide me in.

"Miss Mayer is in the third room down that corridor." Max pointed down a corridor aligned in portraits as he excused himself.

I still wondered who Max was, more so, I always thought he was responsible for Aunty Ruth's death. At some point, I suspected him, thinking he was the one who ran over Ruth.

Everything in this hallway smelled too high heaven, even the smallest portrait here was worth $150 thousand.

The door, to the third room, last to the corridor was slightly opened when I got there. I peeped through and sure enough, Christiana's back greeted me as a thunderous voice broke through my curiosity.

"WHO IS THAT BOY? Who is he? HE THINKS HE CAN JUST CLAIM MY DAUGHTER!! EEEEEEE!!!"

The voice carried a killing instinct in it as I looked behind and realized Max had shut the entrance leaving only the exit for me.

I began to backstep, steadily and carefully not to knock anything over as I heard Christiana being zipped up.

"I want that daring boy! Who is he to spoil my beautiful daughter? He can't ruin her life!"

Sudden steps started echoing in the room as the door began to open. I made my movement fast and reached for the first door which I believed was an exit but to my disbelief, Max appeared out of nowhere like a ghost and blocked my exit.

He knocked me back with his six-pack stomach as a boar walked out into the hallway and saw me stumbling backward.

"Hey excuse me? Who are you!"

I looked at the man in a black suit and knew I was dead. My blood instantly froze as he commanded Max to arrest me, Christiana couldn't save me from the boar but turned her head to the side evading me.

I instantly knew I was a piece of dead meat, I wish I knew, Sarah's words would have saved me.
