Slugs And Dragons

Once again tonight, I sat by my window. Hebron's clothes crumbled under me as I did not bother to move them away before sitting, if he cared for his fashion he should have laid them somewhere proper.

"Do you sleep-walk often? I know an excellent exorcist, results are immediate." I said as I poured him some of my lavender tea. A bad host I was not, even with uninvited visitors.

He hummed to himself, deep in thought,"Tell me, what ways does this exorcist use? I am very intrigued, and this seems like your field of knowledge."

"My field of knowledge?" I asked.

"Bullshit." he answered, very amused.

"Ah, I was beginning to miss your foul mouth."

"You do? It was only yesterday you had a taste, I must be very addictive." he grinned, leaning back beside the window," I'm afraid I was not sleepwalking, and it is another matter that brought me here."

Did I react as fast as I wanted? No. I was still recovering from his comment about the kiss we shared, I did not hear what he said afterwards, his statement still ringing in my ears.

Hebron whistled,"Princess? Ameera El-Huaria?" he said waving a hand before my face," unfortunately, you picked the wrong time to reminisce about kissing me. Here's a deal, you work your little brain for me and listen to what I have to say, and I'll reward you with a kiss, knight's honour." he winked, looking smug as ever.

What did I do, someone might ask? I emptied the tea cup on his face, then threw the cup, it hit him square in the nose.``Ranek bik bel honour ta'ek!" I yelled at him, cursing in my mother tongue as I stood facing him.

My so-noble knight cursed as he crunched down, holding his nose between two-long fingers."You ruined my face! Ugh my nose." he whined, looking as miserable as a sad puppy.

"Too bad, you can no longer get laid with a flat nose." I mocked him, not feeling slightly apologetic.

"What is wrong with you!" Hebron whisper-yelled, a painful expression on his now-damaged face.

"At this point, I have no clue!" I yelled, not caring to disturb others,"But I know one thing: You Hebron Whingston are so, so annoying! A slug! You're a dragon-slug!"

"For fuck's sake Ria! What dragon-slug? What the fuck is a dragon-slug?" he hissed again.

"A hybrid, you, you're a hybrid! The most disturbing of them all! And now you look like one." I yelled louder, unable to contain my rage, "In fact," my voice was hoarse, my lungs burning as I inhaled deep to rain more insults on him,"you would've known what a hybrid was if you did not skip classes to court women!"

"What women are you talking about?" he whispered, confused."The only woman I bothered to interact with on a daily-basis was a short dark-haired crisis of a human being with a sailor's mouth!" he spat his words, wincing as he grabbed his nose once more.

"Who the fuck are you calling short? At least I wasn't mistaken for a Saqi!"

"Ria, please lower your voice!" Hebron gritted," someone might-"

"Huaria? Wech kayen?" Amo spoke from the other side of the door, his voice filled with concern as he asked me about what's going on.

I gestured to Hebron to hide under my bed, and opened the door to see my brother standing in his sleep-wear, a lantern in hand." Amo, why aren't you in bed?"

" I could ask you the same thing." he said, rubbing his eyes."Who were you speaking to just now?"

"Hmm? Me? I was not speaking to anyone." I told him.

"No? Were you not yelling enough to be heard from your father's throne room?" he squinted his eyes at me.

"That's not what I said. I said I was speaking to no one, and to no one I spoke."

"So you were speaking to yourself?" he asked me suspiciously.

"Yes. I am a very interesting person. I love speaking to myself. I'm a great speaker and a great listener." Amo did not respond, so I continued, dedicated to my story,"You do not think I'm that great of a company!" I gasped as I swatted his chest," That's why you don't hang out with me as often these days! Who are you spending your time with? Is it Nasir?"

"No wait," Amo started before I cut him off.

"Oh my god! It is Nasir indeed! I can not believe it! Do you seriously prefer Nasir's company to mine?" I accused him, pretending to be hurt.

Amo ran a hand down his face and sighed,"No, seriously listen! It's  no one I swear! Just, just don't yell, alright? Everyone had a long day and we're beyond exhausted. Maybe talk to yourself in the daytime, when no one's around. We don't want any rumours about your sanity."

"Did something happen?" I asked.

Amo sighed again,"We might have to march sooner, it's a long story, we'll talk later." he said before walking away.

"Okay but bring me some apology-candy next time!" I yelled behind him.

"I will! Now go to bed!" he hissed before he disappeared inside his room.

I closed the door and let out a sigh of relief.

"Your acting skills never fail to impress me." said Hebron from behind me, startling me.
