Dress shopping

"What do you think of this one, your highness?" Asked the woman in a lavish pink dress again.

"It's… pretty" I told her,"though I'm not sure it's very appropriate for such weather."

"Your highness, this is the most covered dress we own here!" the younger girl by her side said exasperated.

The older woman's face paled from the girl's statement," Your highness what she means to say is that your visit was quite sudden, maybe if we sit in and brainstorm some ideas then we can provide you with the best wardrobe." she frantically rambled, swallowing words and letters as she went on. I trust this boutique's reputation to be credible, since the owner was not capable of kissing ass.

"No, I do not have the patience for such a thing, let me see what options you have." I dismissed her, despite how fun I had while shopping, especially accompanied with friends– Bridget–, and accessories– Axel, cause that's what men are for–, but I had this burdening obligation and I needed to take care of it sooner than later.

"We alrea-" the girl was cut off quickly by the owner's sharp voice." We will be back in a minute, your highness. I'm sure you will adore what we have in stock." Then she grabbed the girl's arm and walked to the back.

Bridget was browsing the racks on my right, she seemed unimpressed and I do not blame her. The colour pallets supported by their latest collection were not suitable for her skin tone. This could be the reason why the lady needs her dresses customised to her preferences, she stuck to her colours, and I do not blame her. The Lady was well-known for outshining her every other guest whenever she attended an event.

"Huaria," Whispered Axel as he leaned closer to me," I believe ladies of the north are used to the cold, hence you won't find a dress that matches your likings to a precision."

I frowned at his words, very unsatisfied with the situation. If I did not find what I wanted then I'd have to take more time off work, which was completely impossible with my workload, Ron's news and whatever Nasir was planning. " It is unbearably cold. My limbs would freeze and fall off if I wore them!"

"Most of these dresses are for social events which are usually carried indoors. They tend to be well-lit, well-catered, there's enough wine and food to fuel body heat, besides attendees tend to gather and talk, you will be fine Huaria." a smile tugged at his lips, but I was not yet convinced.

"Do you think we can modify some to suit your liking?" asked Bridget as she held an off-shoulder burgundy velvet dress, I could see the wheels ticking in her head as she eyed the piece in her hand.

I approached her, cocking my head to the side as I tried to imagine how this dress could be altered but I failed.  "What do you have in mind? I can't see this," I grabbed the dress from her hand, examining the material and its durability," could be appropriate for wind and rainstorms."

"Maybe not on its own, not. But if we make a detachable piece, something that is both a headcover and it goes around one's shoulders." she walked to the back of the boutique, grabbing a cram-coloured fabric and draping it over her head and around her shoulders,"we can make it work, Huaria. Trust me."

"If you say so." I told her, clearly done with my shopping for the day.

"Your highness, we have this piece that's almost finished, you can take a look-" The owner's voice sounded as she advanced, handsfull with shimmery fabric.

"Bag them all, along with whatever you see appropriate, Lady Rawclaw has a suggestion, I want twenty pieces to match each dress, as long as the colours match. Send them to my room in the Rawclaw's residence. You," I said turning to one of my knights, "you handle the payment, I will be across at the stationary shop."

"You're done? It's only midday, your highness." asked Axel as he kept a barely-appropriate distance.

"It is, and I am famished. Would you be ever so generous and find us a good place to eat?" I requested of him with a smile that did not reach my eyes.

"Of course, I will find one immediately." He replied with certainty.

"Bridget, I am so sorry to leave you abruptly, but would you please tell the lady here about your idea while I finish my work quickly? I am about to faint from hunger."

"Do not worry, I will make sure it is to your liking and meet you once you're done, your highness." said Bridget with a curtsey.

"Excellent." I nodded my approval, then left in a hurry. My eagerness to find what Nasir sent me for had taken over me.
