Chapter 120

--- 3rd Person POV ---

--- 17th October 1904 ---

In Sooraj, the bustling and lively streets came to an abrupt halt as people gathered in the city square, drawn by the sight of a video playing on the massive screen at its center. Cars, carriages, and wagons had disappeared, replaced by a sea of onlookers eager to witness the momentous event unfolding before their eyes.

Banners bearing the emblems of the Shaja and Chakri dynasties—two of the most powerful monarchical families in the region—hung proudly from lampposts and trees, their fabric fluttering gracefully in the wind. Members of the Imperial Household Guards marched with precision, their disciplined movements drawing admiration as they advanced toward the Temple of Sooraj.

The air buzzed with anticipation and pride. Citizens dressed in their finest attire lined the streets leading to the temple, their faces radiant with excitement and curiosity. It was a rare and extraordinary occasion, one that united the people of Butuan and its neighboring allies in celebration.

As the grand procession made its way forward, the rhythmic beating of drums and the melodic chime of bells reverberated across the city square. Behind the Imperial Guards, resplendent in their crimson and gold uniforms, came the courtiers. Their ornately designed robes shimmered under the bright midday sun, reflecting the grandeur and deep history of Butuan. They carried themselves with the elegance and dignity befitting their esteemed positions.

Amidst the opulence, a golden palanquin crafted from the finest wood and adorned with the precious minerals of the empire followed the courtiers. Carried by the eunuchs of the Imperial House of Shaja, it was a masterpiece of artistry and tradition. Veiled in sheer white curtains, the palanquin concealed a man whose presence captivated the crowd and its attention.

Inside sat Yuvraj Siagu Alexie of House Shaja, the heir to the throne of the Imperial House of Butuan. Dressed in his white and golden sonmin, embroidered with golden threads tailored to a pattern that symbolizes fertility and prosperity. A solemn yet dignified expression can be seen written all over his face as he faces the curtailed small door in front of him.

Today marks the end of Yuvraj Siagu's bachelor years and signals his journey as a married man, task with providing new generations of monarch for the empire. Monarchs that will not just rule according to the words of the parliament but monarchs that will be tough and symbol for the empire's unity and strength. He waited for this day to come, not just because of the wedding but because of things that are being used this time.

As Yuvraj Siagu tried to see what is happening outside through a small gap on his palanquin, he can see the sea of people, happily cheering and shouting for his health and marriage. Dressed with different styled clothing, mixed from traditional sonmin to a more comfortable sonmin that is mixed with western style, people gathered in unity, as if no war is waging on the other side of the region.

Smile of content appears on Yuvraj Siagu's face but what really caught Yuvraj Siagu's attention were the cameras hoisted by reporters and cameraman, trying to take picture and video of the happenings. But one particular camera really made Yuvraj Siagu excites the most, bearing the logo of the Lobestar Tribune of a quill surrounded by golden orchids.

Unlike other press and cameraman, the Lobestar Tribunes cameraman is carrying a vastly different style of camera, which Yuvraj Siagu recognizes as the earlier model of camera used by television stations back in his previous world.

Due to his intervention and inputs, Lobestar Tribune, the leading news agency in the entire world manages to create another breakthrough just years after bringing radio to the world surface. Just days ago, Lobestart Tribune announces to the world their invention of television and camera, allowing live reporting to any news with in the empire's territory as the giant television screen placed on every major city of the empire started to work.

And the first coverage made by the Lobestar Tribune were the announcement made by Yuvraj Siagu regarding his wedding's coverage. The news of Yuvraj Siagu's marriage became a huge talk for the people within the empire but what really made a huge impact even globally is the milestone made by Mr. Faher and his company, officially making the Lobestar Tribune the leading innovator of communication in the entire world.

This made countries to hasten their development of their own communication as jealousy and greed started to creeps on every hall of businesses and government buildings. But this does not bother Yuvraj Siagu as of the moment. As with his marriage currently being televise and can be seen on the entire empire, this will not just boost the legitimacy of the Imperial family but will also strengthen their grasp on their hardheaded territories.

But as the chimes of the bells and drums signaling the marriage arrival continues to resound to the entire ground, people continue to cheer in delight. Soldiers proudly and steadily made their way behind Yuvraj Siagu's palanquin, while tailing behind them just few meters away is the palanquin of Princess Abbhantripaja herself. Draped with the same design as the palanquin of Yuvraj Siagu himself, in a much smaller scale.

Inside sat Princess Abbhantripaja, also known as Crown Princess Abbhantripaja and soon-to-be Yuvrani Abbhantripaja, dressed in an exquisite white and gold sonmin adorned with intricate patterns symbolizing fertility and good tidings. Although the curtains obscured her beauty from the outside world, her excitement was unmistakable. This was the most awaited moment of her life—the wedding that would unite her with her beloved, Yuvraj Siagu.

It didn't take long before the procession finally reaches the temple of Butuan, with Yuvraj Siagu fist entering the temple covered by the canopy of umbrella, preventing him from being seen by the public, as per tradition dictates.

As Yuvraj Siagu entered the grand Temple of Sooraj, the sacred ambiance was palpable. The temple, an architectural marvel blending the traditional styles of Butuan and Christianity, was adorned with garlands of orchids and marigolds. The scent of incense filled the air, creating an aura of solemnity and sanctity.

Rows of dignitaries, nobles, and representatives from allied nations stood in silence, their gazes fixed on the temple's ornate main chamber. Even members of the parliament holding great positions were invited to attend.

Archbishop Adam and the rest of the archbishops of the empire, dressed in ceremonial white and gold robes, stood in formation at the altar, each representing the standing archdiocese of the aylashan faith.

Yuvraj Siagu moved with grace and poise, his every step deliberate and measured. The weight of his responsibilities was evident in his composed demeanor, but his resolve shone through. His white and golden sonmin glimmered under the temple's light, the golden threads symbolizing his commitment to the empire and its people.

As he scanned his sight to the people present inside the temple, Yuvraj Siagu manages to catch the faces of his entire family and relatives, waving at him with delight. Even the family of his soon-to-be wife were also there, smiling at him with content, not to mention his best friend's teasing face while looking at him, which made Yuvraj Siagu smiles a bit.

Even representatives from the Empire of Korea, Japan, and the Kingdom of Hawai'i came. With Crown Prince Yeong and his own mother: Imperial Noble Consort Sonheon, and the ambassador to Butuan came to represent Korea. Japan on the other hand sends Imperial Crown Prince Yoshihito and his wife, Imperial Crown Princess Sadako, and the ambassador of Japan to Butuan.

The Kingdom of Hawai'i, a tributary state of Butuan were represented by Queen Kaʻiulani, her husband, Prince Consort Rohan Harish, and the Queen Emeritus Liliʻuokalani, all came to show its allegiance and support to his wedding.

Other attendees that were invited were delegates from other European countries, but instead of sending their formal delegates, they sent instead their ambassadors to attend the wedding. Only the Kingdom of Spain, Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom decided to send their formal delegates.

With the Spanish Kingdom sending the aunt of the King Alfonso XIII; Infanta Eulalia, Duchess of Galliera and her husband. Germany on the other hand sends Prince Wilhelm Eitel Friedrich Christian Karl of Prussia and few other government officials. The United Kingdom on the other hand sends Louise, Princess Royal and Duchess of Fife and her husband.

With only the Spanish Kingdom having good relationship with Butuan at of the moment, Yuvraj Siagu understood already what really are the reason for the United Kingdom and Germany's royal delegates. With news regarding the development of the television and other things within the empire, especially with the implementation of strict hygiene practices enforced by the government.

Yuvraj Siagu believes that their attendance was aiming to gain more insight and mending the breaking relationship between our nations, visible on how Prince Wilhelm Eitel and Princess Louise wanted to talk with his parents.

But what really shocked Yuvraj Siagu today is the attendance of Empress Dowager Maria Feodorovna and Grand Duchess Elizabeth's presence. Both were placed far from the center light, as if they both wanted to not be noticed by others. Surrounding them are diplomats of the Russian Empire. He never really expected to see Empress Dowager Maria Feodorovna and Grand Duchess Elizabeth attending his wedding as the current situation back in Russia doesn't permit them to do so.

But with their presence now in Sooraj, Yuvraj Siagu believes that their attendance is also connected to their request on support for their plan of coup to depose Tsar Nicholas from the throne. Yet, as what Yuvraj Siagu have already decided, Russia must go and follow its original course, unless Elizabeth and Maria can offer something in exchange of their survival.

With him making his way to the altar while being escorted by his courtiers, covered with the hems of fabric, shielding him from the gazes of the people present, as per tradition dictates. As Butuanon believes that the groom and the bride are not allowed to be seen by the people before the wedding ceremony started, having only the priest and the Lord gazing at them, symbolizes their holy union.

Arriving at the altar, Yuvraj Siagu remain standing while two of his court ladies covered him with a red thin fabric, embroidered with golden threads of symbols of the monarchy. He heard that the veil was with his family since the reign of Maharaja Charan I. Not long after that the fabric that covers him originally were now removed and have the veil only remains covering him.

Still the court ladies and eunuchs were behind him, assisting him on the subsequent parts of the wedding. With solemn music and ethereal voices of the choir echoing through the entire temple, Yuvraj Siagu could not help it but be amaze on how extravagant his wedding is. Not to mention the golds used to decorate the entire temple, with the additions of cameras covering the entire wedding.

Not long after Yuvraj Siagu's appearance were revealed to the public while being covered by a veil. Princess Abbhantripaja, his fiancé finally arrives with his own courtiers escorting and covering her. Which made Yuvraj Siagu smiles as he never saw his fiancé for the past 5 days, as per tradition dictates.

As his fiancé made her way towards his location and being escorted by her courtiers, the music continues to play its aethereal sounds coupled with the rays from the sun entering the temple, Yuvraj Siagu could not help it but marvel as he witnesses his fiancé being reveal to his presence while also being covered by the veil. Nervousness and excitement rushes to Yuvraj Siagu's brain as he slowly absorbs everything that is happening.

His heart started to pound faster, hands sweating, and cheeks started to feel hot as he glances at the beauty in front of him. Which Yuvraj Siagu could not help but feel it at the moment. This is because he never really experiences being wed in his past life. Yes, he has entered some relationships but those were nothing compared to what he is experiencing right now. Those fleeting feelings he has felt to his past life lovers were nothing compared to how he is feeling right now while just staring at his soon-to-be-wife and the mother of their children.

Outside the temple and even at every major city within the empire, people gathered at the giant television placed by the Lobestar Tribune to take witness at the wedding of their beloved Yuvraj. Anticipation and delight were written all over the faces of the people present as they watch everything being shown within the giant television, while subsequently listening at the live commentary being made by the reporters of the Lobestar Tribune.

Even foreign nationals who have come to Butuan Empire for some vacation and sightseeing were drawn to witness the wedding, not because they love the Yuvraj and his fiancé but because of the technology being used. It is not a secret anymore that Butuan Empire is considered as the biggest and greatest innovator of technological advancement in the entire world, leaving Britain and other major power into its shadows.

Thus, Butuan were flooded with foreign nationals, wanting to see on their own eyes the things that are happening within the borders of Butuan and its allies. Which never fails to let them see as Butuan itself never bother to hides it at the public. Even amusement parts were appearing from left and right within the empire, entertaining not just the nobles and elites but even the common people.

Yet, despite their fascination, discrimination against them were also rampant as hatred towards Westerners have never subsided within the hearts and minds of the people of the empire. Hatred that even children attending 3rd grades shows hostility towards Westerners. But that would be the topic for another time of the year.

Moments after Princess Abbhantripaja and Yuvraj Siagu were revealed to the mass inside the temple, the music came into a halt and was replaced with a chime of bells. As the chimes continues to resonate within the halls of the temple of Sooraj, 10 Abbesses wearing their ceremonial clothing enters the temple, each carrying a round bouquet of orchids and lotus flower, all were made into perfection and from the finest colour of white, representing purity and holiness.

Behind the 10 Abbesses, whom have now been standing in front of Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja, another 10 Bishops that enters the temple each carrying a golden moon-shaped incense burner producing a soothing aromatic smell within the entire halls of the temple.

The crowd inside the temple stood in reverent silence since the entrance of the Abbesses, captivated by the grandeur and symbolism of the ceremony. The air was thick with the mingling scents of incense and fresh flowers, lending an almost ethereal quality to the moment. The Abbesses, representing purity and divine blessing, formed a semi-circle around the couple, their serene expressions radiating calm and grace.

The bishops, with their golden incense burners, added an air of sacred solemnity as they chanted ancient hymns in unison, their voices resonating like an unbroken thread through the magnificent arches of the temple.

As the hymns reached a crescendo, Archbishop Adam, the Archbishop of Sooraj and the most influential archbishop in the entire empire, stood between Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja. Dressed in robes of gold and crimson, embroidered with intricate patterns symbolizing the Temple of Butuan. Behind him, two other archbishops carried an ornate book of Aylashan scriptures, bound in mother-of-pearl and inlaid with precious gemstones. While the other six archbishops were standing in silence and reverence behind them.

With a slight gesture from Archbishop Adam, Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja extended their hands. Two court ladies stepped forward, draping their joined hands with a golden ribbon as Archbishop Adam began the sacred rites. Gentle hymns and music once again continue to resound within the halls of the temple.

Despite it having six different wings, the sound of instruments playing and choirs gentle hymns resounded with holiness and grandeur. Even the people outside the temple could not help it but feel the sense of reverence while watching the ceremony unfolding within their sight. Along with this, reporters from left and right, taking notes of the event that are happening, even the reactions of the masses were noted by them.

Inside the temple, Maharaja Siagu and his wife were in full smile and delight as they both witnessed their eldest wedding ceremony. But Maharani Alice knew that after this wedding will also start her eldest son's gruel training as being the adhipālaka of the Empire after she and her husband have decided to allow their eldest to continue being the adhipālaka for the next 5 years. This is because her husband's condition continues to deteriorate and extensive medical treatments were needed.

As Maharani Alice felt the calming touch of her husband's hand, she found solace amidst the whirlwind of emotions coursing through her. Her smile in response to Maharaja Siagu's gesture conveyed her trust and faith in the moment. The quiet exchange between them reflected their deep bond—a relationship forged through trials and triumphs, standing as the cornerstone of the Butuan Imperial family.

Meanwhile, in the honored seats reserved for royal guests, Maha Chulalongkorn, King of Siam, sat beaming with pride and joy. His family mirrored his emotions, their faces glowing as Princess Abbhantripaja, the jewel of their household, entered the temple in regal splendor. Crown Prince Vajiravudh, usually composed, could not hold back tears as he witnessed his younger sister's union with his dearest friend. The bond between Yuvraj Siagu and Vajiravudh had always been one of brotherhood, making this moment deeply personal and profound.

Crown Princess Kaahini, radiant in her elegant attire, observed the ceremony with heartfelt delight. The union of her cousin Yuvraj Siagu and her sister-in-law Princess Abbhantripaja was a momentous occasion, not only for the families involved but for the empire at large. She reminisced about the parallel journeys their relationships had taken, marveling at how love and unity had brought their families closer together.

As Archbishop Adam's solemn voice resonated through the grand temple, the congregation fell silent in reverence.

"May the blessings of the Lord guide you, Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja, in this sacred union. May your hearts remain steadfast, your bond unbreakable, and your paths illuminated by the divine wisdom of our ancestors."

The harmonious chants of the bishops and prioresses reverberated within the sacred space, amplifying the sanctity of the moment. The simultaneous ringing of bells across the empire marked the union of Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja, symbolizing not just their personal bond but also the unity and hope of their people.

In the ancient tradition of Aylashanism and Butuanon culture, there were no spoken vows. The act of union itself, performed with solemnity and reverence, was enough to signify their eternal commitment. This was a faith that valued action and understanding over words, and it was in this spirit that the ceremony progressed.

With graceful precision, the respective veils of Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja were removed by the hands of trusted courtiers, unveiling their faces to one another and to the world. At that moment, their bond was solidified through the tying of a golden knot, an ancient symbol of their union—a gesture that would bind them together not only as husband and wife but as partners in destiny and purpose.

As Archbishop Adam, flanked by nine other archbishops, pronounced their approval and blessings, the ceremony reached its zenith. The sanctity of their union was affirmed before God, their ancestors, and the people of the empire. Princess Abbhantripaja, as was customary, offered a submission bow to her husband—a gesture not of servitude but of devotion and shared purpose, reflecting the balance of love and duty in their union.

The gathered attendees erupted into smiles of joy and relief, their hearts brimming with the shared happiness of witnessing this sacred moment. The conclusion of the ceremony, undisturbed by issue or disturbance, was a testament to the careful planning, deep faith, and unwavering commitment that underpinned the occasion.

Outside the temple, across the empire, cheers erupted from those watching the grand event on the public screens. It was a day that would be remembered not only for its grandeur but for the hope and harmony it inspired within the Butuan Empire.

Within the temple, Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja stood hand in hand, their bond now officially sanctified. The moment they began their journey toward the temple's grand exit, a wave of smiles and murmurs of admiration swept through the attendees. The sight of the radiant couple inspired awe and reverence, their union embodying the strength and continuity of tradition.

As the couple reached the upper level of the temple, they paused in front of their parents. The presence of Maharaja Siagu XV and Maharani Alice, alongside King Chulalongkorn, Queen Sri Bajarindra, and Queen Consort Sae Rojanadis, radiated both authority and warmth. Smiles graced the faces of Siagu and Khao's parents as they beheld their children—symbols of their lineage and legacy—standing together in this sacred moment.

With a gentle yet sincere act of respect, Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja bowed deeply to their parents. An acknowledgment of gratitude, love, and the blessings that had brought them to this day. The parents, moved by this display of reverence, responded with smiles and nods, their silent gestures conveying their pride and approval.

The scene was one of perfection. As the couple descended the temple steps, the gathered crowd both inside and outside erupted in jubilant cheers once more.

Yuvraj Siagu and Princess Abbhantripaja wave their hands in delight and pride as they watch the people gathered outside cheer for their union. Smiles were written all over the face of the newlywed couple as they boarded their palanquin and made their way once again towards the Imperial Palace. Yet, despite already being veiled by the coverings of the palanquin, cheers continue to resound and even the press continues to cover the entire event, not wanting to miss anything.
