Chapter 15: That's Miss Taylor of the Taylor Family!_1

Hearing those words, Gary Brown and Sylvia Johnson couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Kid, you dare threaten me? Looks like Ray Walters didn't beat the fear into you last time," Gary said coldly, sneering.

It was clear that Gary hadn't fully understood Ethan Smith's meaning.

Ethan didn't bother to explain further and just smiled, saying, "Gary, I hope you don't regret this."

"Regret? Regret my ass!" Gary cursed angrily.

Ethan didn't waste any more time talking to him and turned away.

The banquet had plenty of delicious food, most of which Ethan had never seen before.

In recent days, nearly all Ethan had been eating were bowls of noodles.

So, not caring about appearances, Ethan devoured the food freely at the banquet.

"What a pathetic loser," Sylvia muttered under her breath, her eyes filled with even more disgust as she watched Ethan.

Just then, a young man suddenly walked over to Gary's side.

This young man wasn't a stranger; he was Derek Peterson, the son of River City's richest man, Douglas Peterson.

"Gary, you're here too?" Derek walked over and greeted Gary with a smile.

Gary glanced at him and replied, "Mr. Derek, you're here as well."

Derek quipped, "Yeah, I showed up thick-skinned."

Gary chuckled and said, "Mr. Derek, stop joking around—you're the son of River City's top magnate!"

Derek scoffed, "The Peterson family is nothing compared to the Taylor family."

Hearing those words, Sylvia and Gary immediately felt even more pride. After all, the Taylor family had invited them to the banquet.

"Mr. Derek, I heard you attended the Taylor family's banquet not long ago. So, how was it? Got any inside scoop for us?" Gary asked mysteriously.

Derek didn't hold back and replied right away, "Not exactly inside information, but I can tell you—it was hosted for the Taylor family's princess. She's said to be Mike Taylor's favorite granddaughter."

"A woman?" Gary frowned slightly.

Derek nodded and added, "And here's another tidbit—I heard Miss Taylor plans to support a young talent here in River City."

"A young talent?" Gary's eyes lit up as he quickly asked, "Who could it be?"

Derek shook his head and said, "No idea, he didn't show up at the banquet."

Off to the side, Sylvia chimed in excitedly, "Could it be us?"

Prompted by Sylvia's remark, Gary found the possibility increasingly likely.

In recent years, the Brown family had gained substantial influence in River City, thanks largely to Gary's efforts!

And Sylvia had inexplicably received an invitation from the Taylor family—could it really be unrelated to the Brown family's status?

Besides, new up-and-coming young talents in River City these years were few and far between!

If it wasn't Derek, then there was a good chance it was him!

Thinking of this possibility, Gary grew even more excited!

"Maybe it really is you," Derek said jokingly.

"Don't forget to give me a hand when the time comes," Derek clapped Gary's shoulder.

Gary eagerly thumped his chest and declared, "Don't worry—when the time comes, we'll team up and build something extraordinary!"

"This is great, my good days are finally here!" Sylvia clasped her mouth, overwhelmed with excitement!

Sylvia felt more and more thankful for the decisions she'd made.

*If she had stayed with that loser Ethan, wouldn't her life have been completely ruined?*

"That bitch—just wait until I wipe the smirk off your face!" Gary couldn't help but recall Emily Taylor's arrogant demeanor.

He had even begun imagining scenarios in which he could humiliate Emily!

"What's up? You look upset," Derek asked casually.

Gary snorted coldly and leaned closer to Derek's ear, whispering, "Just a stupid chick—she thinks she's hot and tried showing off to me."

"Oh?" Derek raised his brows and joked, "Who is it?"

"No idea. If I weren't concerned she came from Shiglance City, I'd have taught her a lesson already!" Gary scoffed.

Derek laughed and said, "With the Taylor family backing you, there's no need to worry about Shiglance City, is there?"

"True enough." Gary grinned arrogantly.

"Compared to the Taylor family, Shiglance City is nothing," Gary said with a casual smile.

As they spoke, Gary's gaze wandered to the distance.

Emily Taylor stood by Ethan's side, saying something unknown.

Gary's eyes gleamed darkly as he stared at Emily's back.

"Mr. Derek, the woman I was talking about is her," Gary said, pointing in Emily's direction.

Hearing this, Derek followed Gary's finger and looked over.

But when Derek got a clear view of Emily, his face instantly shifted—a drop of sweat rolled down his forehead as he stood bolt upright!

"You... you're sure it's her?" Derek's voice faltered, and his face turned pale.

"Of course!" Gary said nonchalantly, even joking, "Mr. Derek, don't tell me you're interested in her?"

"Interested in my ass! That's Miss Emily Taylor, the Taylor family's eldest daughter! If you want to die, go ahead—don't drag me into this!" Derek snapped angrily, his voice rising in a panic.
