She didn't want to transfer schools at all!
In McKinney, there was no school better than No. 1 Middle School, yet her protests at home all last night were futile, and early this morning her dad, Jeff, personally took her to transfer schools.

Ghania Quinlan felt indescribably miserable, with a sense of suffocation in her chest—if she wasn't in the principal's office, she probably would have lost control of her emotions long ago...
"Thank you for nothing," Mr. Jones laughed briefly, then turned to the man in a suit and said, "Well, Mr. Quinlan, you can go now and handle the transfer procedures."
The principal's office was not responsible for handling transfer procedures; they needed to go to the guidance office for that.
Jeff Quinlan was aware of the process, nodded, and was just about to take Ghania with him.
