Brian Bonette came back to his senses, resting a hand on his forehead with a somewhat helpless expression, "Are you sure you didn't let your personal emotions get involved when you dealt with this matter?"
He thought Amadeus Yancey would deny it, but to his surprise, the man was more candid than he had imagined. His peach blossom eyes, deep and fathomless, carried a sense of aloofness as his low, husky voice betrayed a hint of inadvertent protectiveness, "My person was almost bullied, am I not allowed to have feelings?"
"...Your person? So this is a heroic outburst for the sake of a beauty," Brian joked with a half-smile once he caught on, "Does that mean I should start calling Nathalie 'sister-in-law'?"
His words were mostly in jest and he hadn't really expected Amadeus Yancey to take it seriously.
But never in his wildest dreams.
Amadeus Yancey smiled, his features softening with affection, "No need for that now, we'll still have to wait a little longer..."
"Wait for what?"
