In Robert Powell's understanding, once someone rejects him, he feels disrespected, even betrayed.
Xaviera Evans wasn't sure if Robert knew about the past, but seeing him in person now, she was certain he didn't. A person of his character could hardly conceal himself; if he knew, he would emphasize point-blank: Xaviera, your brother has admitted his mistake, let's forget about the past.
After a brief silence, Xaviera spoke softly, "Mr. Powell, this is the first time I'm meeting you and you claim to be my father. How about we have a paternity test first?"
Robert stood motionless, seemingly stunned. Then his eyes filled with sadness, "Xaviera, I am certain that you are my daughter. There is no need for a paternity test."
"Since you're so sure, we won't have one. But I've lived in Libanan since I was little, and I'm not going to Yittaland."
"What? Xaviera, you're not going to Yittaland?" Robert looked shockingly at her.
