Chapter 53: Epilogue

TWO MONTHS LATER

On the night our Bonding Ceremony took place, there was a full moon. The elders of the pack declared it a sign that the Moon Goddess blessed our union, but after what happened with Meredith, I was still having a hard time believing my mother cared about anything that went on down here.

The ceremony was a grand and glorious affair, with the entire town—yes, the entire town—in attendance. It was befitting of an Alpha and Luna to be sure.

I had convinced Valen to postpone the ceremony after everything that had happened. It was the only appropriate thing to do. He hadn’t looked happy about it, but I knew that was mostly because he thought I was trying to be considerate of everyone’s feelings. In the end, he’d simply nodded in agreement. As the time drew closer, I also tried to convince him to have a simple ceremony. He hadn’t even entertained the suggestion.

“No.”

“No?” I repeated. That was it? Just no?
