Chapter 16: Reunion

“Oh, no,” Tris mutters as her heart sinks into her chest. “No, I thought I had more time.”

Lucas looks over at her with wide eyes. “What’s wrong? Should I be worried? Because, from your tone, I feel like I should be very worried right now,” he whispers, panic rising in his voice.

Tris glances over at him and shakes her head. There’s no way Lucas isn’t seeing what she is. The man that just walked out of the shadows looks exactly like Nick. His hair is salt and pepper, but other than that, they look so similar. Nick’s grandfather is a little more muscular and a little taller, but Tris doesn’t see any other discrepancies.

“How are you not seeing this?” Tris asks, confused.

Lucas looks over at Nick and the man before staring back at her with a furrowed brow. “I don’t get it. What am I supposed to be seeing?” Lucas genuinely questions.
