I was sitting with Will, Michael, and Ryan at the bar of The Rumbler. Football season was over, and that meant it was time to start planning for next year. We might have won last season, and we’d set a new personal best for our team. Now we needed to outdo ourselves. 


The four of us were bouncing ideas off each other, experimenting with new centers, tackles, and guards, to name a few.


At least that’s what Will, Ryan, and Michael were doing.


I was finding myself distracted by something – someone else. 


There was a pretty brunette in a little black dress seated at the bar several places down from us. She glanced over occasionally, giving me glimpses of sparking green eyes and the curve of red lips.


I was about to excuse myself from my teammates when Will smacked my arm. “Eye’s off, Captain. You have a girlfriend, remember?” he tried to remind me.


“Not anymore I don’t,” I replied, shaking my head. “We broke up, remember?” I took the opportunity to remind him.
